What a great experience. Joe was great from the moment I contacted him to inquire about a fit. He walked me through what to expect, he picked me up at the ferry in Weehawken making the trip to Jersey so easy, and then improved my fit on the bike step by step. He looks at every detail down to the screws in my cleats. I would recommend anyone wanting to get the most out of their fit go to Joe

Just got my first bike fit from these guys, after 5 hours I absolutely loved it. Both Joe and Luke went above and beyond the call of duty, not only did I get a professional and proper fit, they adjusted my brakes and cut my steerer tube to the proper size. Everyone who loves to ride their bike needs to get their bike fitted from Fit Werx.

I got my first ever bike fit a couple of days ago from FitWerx in Ridgefield Park.

The fit involved an interview as to my cycling goals, some extensive body measurements,
and some flexibility/core strength tests. Measurements from the old fit were
copied onto the watt bike, and motion capture analysis was performed to determine
"before" parameters. Then, the better fit was dialed in on the watt bike.

My fit changed things up quite a bit. The seat got moved up almost an inch, the reach was extended, and the drop was lowered. All in all a more aggressive fit suitable for racing.

I'm feeling much more comfortable in my tuck. In my old fit, the lower seat caused me to get balled up at the top of the pedal stroke. The higher drop meant that I had to bend my elbows quite a bit to attain a flat back, whereas on the new fit I can get there with just a slight break in the elbows. On the downstroke I'm now using that part of the range of motion closest to full extension. From working with leg press machines in the past, I think that this extent is the most powerful for me.

Body measurements from the fit were quite extensive and revealed my left leg to be a little shorter then the right. Motion capture revealed that this resulted in some pronation of the left knee. The pressure sensitive saddle revealed a hot spot on the right side of the saddle.

The fitter added a shim to my left cleat, and subsequent tests showed the left knee tracking straight, and the saddle pressure evening out between the left and right side. I felt these changes in my trainer ride yesterday, the left leg felt better supported, and the usual right side saddle pressure which is really evident on trainer rides was much less.

Bike measurements were recorded in a spreadsheet so that the fit can be reproduced if the bike is disassembled, or on another bike.

Overall I felt like Joe did an impressive job. I've realized some immediate benefits on my first post-fit trainer ride and I haven't noticed any soreness or stiffness. I'm optimistic that further benefits will accrue once the fit "sinks in" after 500 miles or so, and winter gives the opportunity for some road rides.

I've been working with Joe LoPorto since he opened his shop in Ridgefield Park, and I continue to be amazed at his thorough approach to bike fitting and his incredible customer service. FitWerx has been ranked as one of the best bike shops in the country, and Joe lives up to it! Expect the fitting to be pretty long, around 3 hours, because they will take comprehensive measurements of your body, have you ride on the fully customizable fitting tool, and dial you in to a position that optimizes your comfort, power, and aerodynamics depending on your goals, races, and body type. Don't leave time on the table or risk injury - go to this shop for a fitting!

I have had dozens of bike fits in over 26+ years of racing. Many have been good. Joe LoPorto's methodology is thorough and sound. From one race week to another I had his fit, and was able to yield a good 20 watts of average power + 8rpm faster cadence, with greater comfort on my time trial bike than in the 7 prior years of racing on it.

Joe also does a great job of helping assess and define any mobility or stability issues that an athlete may need to address that will hamper performance or aerodynamic efficiency. Powerful intel for the high performance athlete that is working with a coach or physical therapist to address those issues.
