Excellent, authentic, affordable and quick service with no BS... As others have commented the Jerk Chicken (their highlighted item) is not out-of-this-world but their stewed chicken and curry goat are second to none.
TIP: they have AMAZING fried chicken that tastes like an old black grandma cooked it for you. However it is completely sold out by mid lunch hour. As far as value goes, where else in the city are you going to find a meal that has you stuffed until dinner time for $5.25 (lunch special)? This place is awesome in that regard... One caveat, they have "we deliver" plastered all over the place but they do NOT actually deliver.

I've been going to this location for many years. The food is very good. However, the customer service has gotten worst over the years. The workers, (servers & cashier), have bad attitudes and no customer service skills. They are rude and ill -mannered. Also they have increased their prices consistently and at times given less food for those higher prices. I have not gone there since the last time we ordered 6 large oxtail dinners, ($14.00 each), by phone and then went to pick it up. It was near to closing. The order was packed up and ready, which was great. When we got home and opened the boxes, there was no cabbage, no plantains and the amount of food looked like a medium size meal. We were not told that half of each meal was missing and they charged the full price. We called them immediately and was met with an oh well attitude and "you can come in tomorrow to get the missing food because we're about to close". WTF? We requested a partial refund which would have been the appropriate thing to do. We were told - no refunds! That was 5 months ago. The food is wonderful when you get the entire meal and the portion size is correct but the nasty attitudes make it not worth it!!! I will not spend MY money and have to deal with bad manners and don't give a damn posturing! I and my entire family will not be going there again. They need to get it together!

Could not eat the food, initially I was not going to even pay for the food and simply walk out of the establishment. I ordered a medium jerk like the woman in line before me, all seemed well until the server/cashier. Not only did she consciously chose to select the stale (harder) pieces of meat, but she gave me less than what is usually offered and even what she served the woman before me. I guess I should be thankful because the meat was stale, but this just did not sit well with me. I inquired and her attitude was just as stink as the old meat that she served me. I casually smiled and paid her for the food. I am a regular customer of the establishment; Flatbush junction, Parkside, and even the small store front on Utica n Eastern Parkway. I will not be returning to the Newkirk location even if I am dying from hunger.

I find the entire staff especially the women have a serious attitude....I don't know if they're over worked, not getting f*^ked or what.....I observed a male customer seemingly intimidated by the attitude of 1 of the servers when clarifying his order about wanting some cabbage on his jerk chicken....yes the food is good but the attitudes suck !!! I say be grateful for the customer base that keeps you in the money because although you may play gospel music and may go to church on sunday, if your attitude sucks and you're not grateful to your customer base, that money can blow away like dust in the wind, I will defintely spread the word about them !

Many are called few are chosen and one is real deal, if you're in the area. The oxtail and chicken combo is the best when I am feeling the need to pig out. Still, you won't be disappointed. its one of the few jamaica restaurant where the food is consistent.
