Fatty's Cafe

I cannot get enough of this place for brunch. They have a non-alcoholic option of drink, a limeade which is sooo good. Their mofongo is one of the best mofongos I've ever had. Such a fantastic spot and the customer service is spotless.

Laid back, friendly spot for drinks or a bite to eat. Also does a great brunch on Sundays.

I think the term "off the beaten path" was coined for places like these. (Any place that's over a half mile walk from a non-trendy subway stop qualifies in my opinion.) When you head off the map you'd expect to find something cute and good and this place delivered on that for my wife and I. For brunch we had polenta pancakes with cheese. Of course, as a grain based dish the polenta gives you that country grits type attitude. My grandpa -- WWII navy vet from Virginia mountain country -- used to make grits for us. So anything that reminds me of him scores points. In some ways this place has that down home country feeling. Fun art on the walls and a solid virgin Bloody Mary to gargle it all down with. (I don't drink alcohol in the morning.)

Dear Jeremy your review is wonderful!!! It says so much about us and about you. "Make music NY" happens every 6/21 ALL OVER NYC!!! It's a day for the arts. You are trying to bring us down. We had a nice crowd of your neighbors outside including kids w their parents. It was a great day. Maybe you should try supporting us instead of trying to shoot us down. Even yelp removed your review because you've obviously never stepped in here. That's too bad because we are both missing out on a friendship that could last a lifetime. I hope you have a change of heart, otherwise stay out of our way...... The show must go on!!!!

The food and the service here is excellent! You walk in and you feel like family. The ambiance and decor in here is awesome and goes perfectly with the food. There is also a patio to eat on in the back when the weather is nice outside. I love Fatty's for their brunch! I'm a vegetarian and I love their mofongo stuffed with queso cheese and it comes with a side of salad. I haven't tasted muffing like this anywhere! Also a complimentary beverage comes with any brunch option that you order. If you're ever in Astoria this is the place you want to brunch at!
