My interaction with the representative was not as hostile as other people's encounter. The women was nice, but completely mislead me to get me to sign a contract.
The representative first started by saying that she was from national grid and that many people in the area have been complaining that they had been incorrectly billed and she needed to see my Con Edison and National Grid bills to see if I was one of those people so I can receive compensation. She even had a binder full of papers and examples to show me what to look for and to seem more legit. She then begins to circle, underline, and cross out things on the bills to show me where I was being billed too much and could be "saving more" by signing up. She then begins to fill out a contract and asks for my phone number and says that someone will call shortly to confirm the contract. At that time I should've just realized what was happening, but I was stupid. After she ends a call with her phone, my phone begins to ring and they had me confirm a bunch of stuff and even had me read something that is one the back of a business card saying " Family energy is not my utility". They leave and then I start to come to my freaking senses and start researching about this company and cancelled it immediately. There are many fishy things that this company does to make sure that they have their back covered in case of legal stuff. For instance the phone call that I had made it so that they can potentially use it against me if I were to complain or anything. And of course its much harder to say no to someone when they are in front of you. Be smart and stay away from these kinds of businesses.

I would like to say that I was lead to taking an appointment for a job interview with this company or one of it's affiliate offices in Endicott NY. I was sorely disappointed when I saw that it was a meeting in progress for the door to door field representatives. I have experienced such from other "energy" companies in the past. Many are honest hard working young adults trying to 'ek' out a living during the summer between semesters of college. So what, no need to be rude to them. No need to overly pushy with the customer either. Yes I get it deregulation of energy industry has opened the door so to speak for veriest energy supplies to fly in an scoop up as many customers for their energy products or delivery systems to provide you with the same thing you already have. Some may actually save you money in the long run. Yet most non-commercial users will see maybe pennies to a few dollars save per year. Nothing really significant.
Here is my problem, The Manager, Patrick, (Celtic Corp, LLC) Giving his prep-talk to his team, normal. He obviously did not take in account that I could hear everything that dropped out from his lips. He used explicates and descriptions of scratching ones male genitalia as examples of what not to do when out in the field. This is the Leadership of the company. A filthy fifth grader in the playground is what I heard. This is not an Adult speaking to a sales team. This is not a professional, respectful place of employment. Should this had been a sleazy bar, or a gentleman's club then all be it, vulgarity to the maximum. This place is not and should you want this guy sending out his minions to talk to your Grandmother like this about her energy bill.
No wonder your have these dregs pushing you into a contract you don't want. I get the low ratings.

For the second time, a salesperson came to our door, asked to see an energy bill, and would not take no for an answer when I informed him that we switched from Family Energy for a reason and were ok with paying slightly more for green energy. He was literally willing to stand on our porch and continue pushing us to change to their energy company even when I explained that I did not understand why they couldn't just send us information explaining their offer because I wasn't just going to switch without reading information and completely understanding it. I also explained that I was very busy and didn't really have time to deal with this issue today. I finally asked him if I was legally required to make this switch, because he was making me feel like he wasn't going to leave unless we switched, and I thought perhaps I was misunderstanding something because he wasn't able to give me a reason I had to sign. He then became extremely rude when we told him we weren't interested and asked him to leave. This happened exactly the same way with a different salesman several weeks ago. We called Family Energy to complain about their sales tactics, and will be calling the police next time if these pushy salespeople continue to show up at our door.

2 young ladies interrupted our birthday party. Said the city makes them go door-to-door, said they have to verify that we have Nat Grid, wanted to see our bill, said if we don't show it to them someone will just have to come back. I said I'm not going to dig out a utility bill when there's a party going on, she said someone will have to come back then. She was rude and she made it sound like she was there on official city business. I knew better.
It's unfortunate that a rating of one star is mandatory to post a review here. They don't deserve any stars at all.

The ABSOLUTE WORST COMPANY. I work with developmentally disabled adults, and the other day a team of three people from Family Energy came bashing on the apartment door of one of the individuals I work with, who could not fully comprehend what they were saying to her. They employed aggressive language, lied to her face repeatedly, and would not let her close the door! The lead guy "Ron Black" even got into a shouting match with me. Since I am ethically bound to respect the choices of the people I work with, even if it is conflicts with what I consider to be a sensible decision, I had to sit there and watch them strong-arm her into signing up for their SCAM. It was humiliating for her, and for me. Afterwards she was very distraught. These people are animals. If they come to your door, I suggest that you CALL THE COPS.
