If you like a great casual place for excellent food, try Estela. Its on the Top 50 list of the world, but fairly casual and no need to uber- dress.
You get to choose multiple plates (from $20 to $35) per person - that way you get a variety of food to try. Excellent wine/ drinks list. Reservations are tough, but there is walk-in capacity at the bar. Dont forget your (prepared) wallet - its worth it!

My favorite bar to dine at in Soho, Estela is a total gem on Houston. A simple, yet extraordinarily well executed menu of items that can be shared include flavorful Burratas and an inventive Sunchoke and Beef Tartare. Squid ink fried paella, Lamb ribs crusted in Charmoula, and their smoked pork tenderloin are all excellent - paired with a really solid wine list and thoughtful cocktails. Perfect for dates.

First of all, we ordered 3 appetizers and 5 "main" courses. It was just a bit too much, but we still enjoyed the meal.
The food was outstanding! My favorites were Serrano ham (surprisingly the portion was significant in size for an appetizer), black rice with squid, burrata (it was also quite large for a cheese dish), beef tartar (it was so good!). Steak was delicious but not enough for the price... Endive salad was delicious but it was not necessary... too much fat for a vegetable dish.
The ambiance was good for a date night: small space, crowded, a bit too loud, but not enough to mess with the conversation, dim lighting to create an illusion of intimacy.
Service was friendly and reasonably helpful.
Overall, I really liked the place and highly recommend it.

Great atmosphere, amazing food and staffs are friendly and helpful. What more else can you ask for. I recommend trying the beef tartare and the ricotta dumplings. The price for this restaurant is on the high end but worth every penny. Overall great concept and food.
