- Terrible #4511
First time at this restaurant. After reading the good reviews I decided to try it. When I walked in there was an unpleasant scent but I decided to ignore it and get a table. After I was seated, I had to ask the waitress for a fork twice because they both times were dirty. The coffee cups are chipped the napkins look like they have been washed a thousand times. The food is definitely not worth coming back for.

This is a real Jewish deli that makes pastrami and corn beef in a way I have never tasted. I usually don't like coleslaw but this place makes it in a way that is so delicious. Highly recommended.

Very slow service. Prices are ridiculously high. serving size does not warrant a sandwich being $17

My feelings on Eppes Essen can be boiled down into one word - LEGIT. This is the real deal of Jewish delis. I just ate with a group of 8 New Yorkers who were prepared to be disappointed, and we were all blown away by the quality of food. Everything is delicious - from the hot corned beef and pastrami to the blintzes, pierogies and knishes. Even the pickles, peppers and coleslaw they put on every table are incredible. I normally can't stand coleslaw and I gobbled multiple servings! And if you possibly have room for dessert, the black and white cookies DO NOT disappoint. Their platters are fantastic for big family events (my NJ in-laws have EE platters at every family event), but eat in for the authentic experience! You will NOT be disappointed!

I have had my family gather there for a late brunch many times. The service has been terrific and so has the food. I plan to do it again ver soon. I have always found their food to be very good especially the coleslaw, corn beef, pastrami and the soups. I should mention that the rest of the menu is also good.
It's not cheap, but the portions are ample.
