It pains me to say that the Emerson Hotel ain't what it used to be. I grew up eating here with my family in the 50's. It was a great family place, clean and great food. I remember coming here at age 8 right after my father's funeral in 1955. All the waitresses (I remember Charlotte) were so nice an caring. I stopped in recently while on a business trip to NYC (I have been living in CA for many years) and couldn't wait to again enjoy the sliced steak and creamy cole slaw. I was terribly disappointed. The building is run down, the food was barely edible and the place was dirty. Too bad. What should be a real landmark and a fine dining experience seems to have been lost on the current owners.

Doesn't even deserve 1 star. My family and I came here to take advantage of the nice weather on a saturday. The outside bar was closed, however the tables were still available to sit at. They were filthy and when we kindly asked if a staff worker could clean it they gave attitude. " I don't care what you do, break stuff.." horrible for an employee to say. Will not be returning

slow, ineffective service; uninspired clams; undercooked salmon; salty knockwurst; little salty bay scallops yecchhh

Only order simple food. Like Berger or wings.
