Back in 2009, I remember walking down Hillside Ave and being accosted by a gang of black boys with your school's name on their sweatshirts.
They did not steal anything; they did not make any physical contact, but they did follow me for two blocks, asking questions about my sneakers (which were not very fancy, by the way), and just basically putting me in that very uncomfortable situation where I thought I was going to get attacked or robbed.
Since then, I go to the other side of the street whenever I see a group like that. People tend to argue that it's not fair or that I'm being racist.....forget about political correctness; I'm more concerned about safety.....and I'm not gonna allow myself or any of my loved ones to go through a moment like that.
I gave those boys a chance to prove themselves and they failed miserably, making the entire black community look bad.
