Amazing!
El Caramba is a newly opened restaurant in Elmont, NY at the corner of Hempstead Turnpike and Elmont Road. The ambiance is light and cheery, there's ample room for the tables and guests, the decor is simple and delightful. I interviewed the seasoned chef and owner Carlos because I was impressed by the food. He has worked the restaurant circuit in Manhattan and here in Long Island and now I could really tell that he wants you to seat and enjoy his expertise in a great and delicious dish. We did!
This is =the= best Peruvian restaurant I have ever eaten in. The food is always fresh, the plates are satisfyingly large, the seasoning just perfect. My first visit (yes, I've gone there 3 times in 4 months) I tried the "Lomo Saltado" thin strips of sauteed steak with french fried style potatoes, thinly sliced onions and tomatoes served in a bed of rice. What a delight! the steak was tender and juicy, the potatoes golden fried just right and the seasoning with the onions and tomatoes just perfect. My wife had a seafood dish and raved about it. It was the "Ceviche Mixto" (shrimp, fish, mussels, octopus and squid in a perfect lemon lime marinated sauce). My son tried and loved the "Tallarin Verde con Bisteck" - spaghetti with steak in a basil sauce. I tasted it and had to have it on my second visit. On my next visit I will try their famous rotisserie chicken that some guests were really enjoying.
Highly recommended!
