My family used the App Parkwhiz to pre-reserve/pay for a allotted time slot. There was a little confusion getting in, but it wasn't anything major. We rented a spot from 1 pm to 1 am. We had a pre-printed parking pass they took as proof and the Parkfast staff gave us a ticket in exchange.
On the ticket it says to text ahead so they can get your car ready, we did when we were about half an hour away. When we got to Chinatown around 12:40 pm, our car wasn't out. The attendant also had no idea what Parkwhiz was so he demanded that we pay an additional $38 to the $38 dollars we already prepaid. We showed him the confirmation email on our Smartphone and offered to talk to the manager. He said that we didn't have the proper paper to collect the car and prove that it was prepaid (even with the e-mail confirmation). Honestly this isn't a conversation that we wanted to have around midnight to 1am in Chinatown so we just paid again. When he got our car out of the car elevator...low and behold our pre-paid parking pass was on the dash. He blamed us for letting the morning crew take the ticket (even though it says on the paper to surrender the parkwhiz ticket to the attendant) and then also told us we should have texted ahead to get our car out (which we did).
I don't think it was malicious at all, but it was a horrible miscommunication and an immediate "ass-covering it's not my fault it's yours" for the mistake. He didn't even offer to refund us the second charge and instead told us to take it up with our credit card company.
They did give us a place to park out car for the whole day, which I'm grateful for. The customer service, communication, and execution of our dealings with Parkfast just make it an undesirable situation on all sides. Why use Parkwhiz is no one knows the protocol for pre-paid spots?
I don't really post reviews, but I just don't like the fact that we were double charged and blamed for "not doing the right thing." We were never combative or disrespectful, we just wanted him to know that we had already paid...which he didn't believe.
