East Orange General Hospital

I have only ever had one good experience here. It's the closest, and I have asthma, which is the only reason I go.

My aunt had a seizure, and I was the first to arrive at the hospital, and she was in a gown, but her parts were uncovered and the curtain was wide open.

I had a nurse leave a syringe on the bed with me on two separate occasions.

The staff can be rude, though not all of them.

They literally won't let you leave to eat, but you go through triage and still wait up to three hours to be seen. Why? No one is doing anything. Then, when they finally decide you can eat something, it's a half sandwich on stale, dry bread, with just turkey. What is that about?

My father is a doctor, and I have been in many, many hospitals, even sitting in the nurses' stations. Never have I seen such laxness and lack of empathy.

I don't understand how this place continues to run, honestly.

This is a horrible hospital, when your feeling bad already you want to feel assured that your health is in good hands NOT HERE they treat you as if your a bother not as if your their priority and without patients who would need them. Don't go here they'll just elevate your blood pressure and that will be one more thing you'll have to worry about. HORRIBLE HOSPITAL DONT GO!!!!!!

This hospital is terrible.My sister and I took our mother here and when she was in pain and asked for pain medicines, she had to wait for almost an hour! Plus some of the staff members were very rude and don't even care! The staff was sitting there having jolly old time while my mother was in pain! I would never recommend this hospital to anyone in my life!

Would have a zero if i were allowed..... this place is the worst... I wouldnt come here for a band aid because they wuld take 3 days to get one.... but if your ready to leave earth, by all means this is the place for you.....btw ive been here since wednesday its friday night now ran about 4 xray type tests and still dont know anything about whats causing my illness... in fact everytime i see a doctor they ask me the same questions,"why are you here or what happened?" and leave after they get the answer which shows me noone talks to each other or shares any info.. nothing is carried over.. ive answered this question 16 times still climbing sometimes even to the same doc.... there are some good people here... i only met 3...none were doctors.... im upset i cant remember the names... the doctors knew nothing... they need to make this place a homeless shelter or somethin.. it would save more lives...
* its now monday... last night i was told i was being transfered in the morning and not to eat or drink past 12 midnight because when transfered i will be tested again.... 11 today they just now began setting up the transfer.... callin insurance companies the doctors at the other hospital this,that, the other.....
* through the course of the stay the patient next to me also was denied the proper treatment.... it was an emergency he hit nurse calling button didnt work... i hit mines for him... nothing i got up and called a nurse from the hall.... she told me "hold on let me get his nurse" 15 mins later him panting for air and in pain in the meantime... nurse comes "whats wrong?" He tells her the situation .... she doesnt know what todo... I tell her "if u dont go get a doctor that does" why did i have to tell her that?

I went there with flu like symptoms but really because I find myself gasping for air several times.....I went there n explain to a white doctor who told me its just the flu n to take over the counter medicine, I told her I've been doing that, before discharge I find myself gasping for air again n I tell them like something is wrong I feel like passing out, they put me to sit n place a thing on my finger they gave me a sandwich n a drink also...I was worried I just keep trying to calm down n take time to breathe, few minutes after they tell me they don't see anything wrong I should go home n rest. The following day feeling the same n going through that same gasping of air problem, I went to st Michaels they immediately took me to a room, unlike east orange hospital I had to go up to the window after checking in to tell them that I said I had breathing problem, few doctors at st michaels were in the room, they check me n then gasping of air started again, they put that air thing over my mouth as they have the monitors on me to check my breathing, they notice that I am not able to breathe properly on my own.....I had pneumonia, I was immediately admitted n in ICU for two weeks. They had asked if I went to any doctor before coming there n I told them yes yesterday at east orange hospital n they could not believe that they had discharge me, I was question few times by doctors about that there. This is life being trusted in these doctors hands for them to be too careless with n it shouldn't depend on what kind or if u had insurance cuz I didn't but st Michaels did not turn me away so carelessly.... I WILL NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO GO TO EAST ORANGE HOSPITAL
