Duane Reade

A relatively recently built location, this Duane Reade is always clean and almost everyone who works there is super friendly. The pharmacists (downstairs with the grocery and household items) are always willing to help - though sometimes they're busy and you'll have to wait a few minutes. The Pharm Techs are especially friendly and don't make it a chore to pick up prescriptions.

For the most part Duane Reade has been good to us and the male staffers are very very nice and helpful. However, the reason there is only 1 star on my rating is due to my last time there. I purchased a product from another Duane Reade and as a company, the policy is that you can return an item to ANY store with your receipt (which I had, as well as the credit card used to purchase it). Well, the lady who was the supervisor on duty at the time refused to take the item back and then proceeded to LIE and say they did not sell that item in the store. We all looked in shock when she said this since the item was on display RIGHT BEHIND THE COUNTER SHE WAS TALKING TO US FROM! Needless to say we called her out on it, she put her head down and ignored us, and then walked away. When I called another store to inquire on the policy again, they said the store should have taken it back but probably didn't because they didn't want to take the "loss" that would show as a return on their paperwork. Merry Christmas indeed. So, we went back a few hours later, and tried again, and this time the Duane Reade manager was different, a man that was much more effective as a supervisor, and he first asked if we had come in earlier, (to which we answered yes) and then took the item back. This would have been fabulous and all, but for some reason Duane Reade DID NOT REFUND OUR CREDIT CARD!!! So, here we are, item-less AND short $90.00. As a general word of caution, BEWARE if you happen to get the employee that is DISHONEST, RUDE, NOT HELPFUL and basically an all around HORRIBLE PERSON, who will cheat you on Christmas day. If you do shop there you should be fine as long as you don't encounter an issue or need to return/exchange. If you do, GOOD LUCK and I hope you don't mind getting ripped off. Steer clear of the store when the lady who is shorter, with dark hair is the supervisor... you WILL loose more than your sanity - and you run the risk of loosing your money!

I went to the on premises doctor here today and was REALLY disappointed. I have been to a Duane Reade doctor before (at the 42nd st. location) and had a good experience so I went back. Well, I shouldn't have gone here. The nurse/aid whatever was unfriendly and like a robot. No emotion, nothing. Meanwhile I am dizzy and sick and just want meds so I can go home and get better. When I went into see the actual doctor she was a miserable woman. Got mad at me for not being able to relax my tongue for the tongue depressor and then told me, "If you have to cough, don't cough in my face." Duh, thanks. She offered really no help and who knows how much I'll get charged even with insurance. I was in tears on my way home, because when you feel like crap and someone just gives you a blank stare and no compassion you feel even worse. DONT GO TO THIS LOCATION FOR THE DOCTOR. Unless you really have no other choice.
