Take advantage of this genuine Polish grocer while it's still around. As the neighborhood changes, the Polish people who once roamed the streets move further out to Maspeth. The kabanos (dried sausages) here are not only good, but some of the least expensive that I've found. I also get my Farmer's cheese here (Twarog). Owner is friendly and helpful but his English is limited. I'm sure his clientele consists of the Poles who have not yet been forced out by rising rents.

there once was a time they smoked their own meats
Kielbasa! Kabanosy! so many treats
the smoky coldcuts, a real temptation
Ignored by most of the new population
That's no more, like the White Eagle Bakery
that baked their own delicious chruschiki
it's been there forever, still a great place to shop
Our newfound neighbors the hipsters should try it
But having once had a face, I doubt that they'll buy it
