I had a Jones fracture. The first visit involved an extremely long wait. When it was finally my turn, he explained things well, but I later realized that he did not show me my x-ray. He said that there was a chance I would need surgery...This terrified me, but he acted like it was no big deal. He said it might heal on its own, but there was a really good chance I might have to get a permanent screw in my foot. Didn't sense much compassion.
The second visit 6 weeks later, really long wait, and I saw him for about 2 minutes. I was hoping he would show me my x-ray and show me the crack in my foot and how it has been healing, but he didn't. I told him how difficult it was to have to attend a conference in San Diego while on crutches, he brought up deep vein thrombosis and how a blood clot could travel to my lung and kill me. Still not sure what possessed him to tell me that...
Third visit was canceled at the last minute because they had scheduled my appointment while Berberian was on-call. Missed a whole day of work for no reason, and left wondering if I could have been freed of this cast today.
