the doctor and most of his staff are exceptional. billing is a big problem. they take your co-pay up front and cash only [no credit card]. then nyu langone billing sends you a bill anyway for the deductible. when you call about it, they have no records, the 877 billing people don't answer and the main office hopes you have a receipt. EVEN THOUGH THEY WON'T TREAT YOU WITHOUT PAYING FIRST. poor way to run a business

I called early this morning because I thought my blood pressure was to High....The office told me to come in at 12:15, and Dr. Kobren fit me in the schedule, and did an examination. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but I was ready to go the hospital because I took my blood pressure reading through an at home machine. Low and behold the machine wasn't that accurate, and Dr. Kobren saved the day by seeing me the same instant I called with an alarming blood pressure. Much thanks to Great Neck Medical

A very special Cardiologist and gentleman!

Dr. Kobren saved my father’s life. My Dad had just been seen by the head of cardiology, at a well-respected NYC hospital for convenience sake, because he had been frequently visiting a close family member there who was being treated for lung cancer. He thought since he was at the hospital all the time anyway, he should get all his checkups out of the way during his hospital visits.

Luckily Dr. Kobren saw him for his regular checkup even though he had recently been seen and given a clean bill of health by these other doctors.

My father was feeling great and was annoyed my sisters and I pushed him to see Dr. Kobren anyway.

Well, Dr. Kobren did his usual checkup and he said he was not positive but something did not sound right and he wanted to do more testing.

It turned out my father had a life threatening enlarged aorta which is an aneurysm to the main artery to the heart. The surgeon Dr. Kobren referred us to said that my father would have died before he hit the ground if he was not operated on ...that week !

We will never forget this catch and it speaks volumes about how excellent a diagnostician Dr. Kobren is.

Years later my father is still feeling great and going strong!! Needless to say I highly respect and recommend Dr. Kobren.

I started going to Dr. Steven Kobren about 18 years ago. Although very pleased with my previous physician, the strong recommendations I received for Dr. Kobren ,and the fact that he was also a noted cardiologist, affiliated and teaching at two of the best NY area hospitals, made a strong case for switching. Other members of my family have also become his patients.
Since then I couldn't be more satisfied. Never an alarmist, he has not only provided top- notch and thorough medical examinations and treatments for me, but has also taken as much time as needed to carefully explain all of my concerns. On more than one occasion he provided personal consolation and guidance to me and my family. For this I consider him a close confident as well as the best doctor I have ever had.
