I recently received a biopsy from Dr. Kwauk that had become swollen. Having not received any real post-operative treatment information, I thought it was normal. I went back to him to receive the results and to have the swelling drained of lymph fluid. He said the swelling would go down on its own without antibiotics or any pain medication. The next day I had increasingly intense pain and swelling as well as discoloration around the scar. After having a nurse at his office PAGE HIM AND NEVER RECEIVING A CALL BACK, I decided to go to an ER where I found out I had an abscess and endured extreme pain and fever.
I’m not the type of person to make uninhibited complaints about my caregivers, but I can honestly admit that Dr. Sam Kwauk was the most uninformative, negligent, and arrogant doctors I’ve ever had to deal with. He could have been much more precautious by giving me antibiotics and post-operative care information, instead of being overconfident and casually dismissive.
One of his first questions was “what are you gay or something” which I am. His immediate reaction was that of disapproval and uneasiness. During the entire process he never made an effort to help me trust him. He felt more comfortable talking about his family problems and the morality of fatherhood then my pertinent surgery. I recommend to any other GLBT patients NOT to go to this doctor judging from his discomfort and curt attitude with me.
