I brought a Barney's blazer and 2 pair of wool slacks to be tailored. I asked for: a break in the pants, sleeves shortened and chest taken in a little.
Trying on the clothes, you cannot help but notice that you're visible to all of Park Ave (a relatively busy street), and when Dominic makes measurements, he only does so with one sleeve or leg, instead of both. This can lead to trouble, because as I later found out my one arm is slightly longer than the other.
The service was prompt. I was able to pick up the clothes 2 days later. He did not offer that I try the clothes on, so I asked to try on the jacket, but not the pants. I noticed that the jacket sleeves still seemed long, but he pushed back, saying that they were fine. The chest was good, and just what I was looking for.
I then tried the pants on at home, and for uncuffed dress slacks I surely expected a single break, but instead one of the pants had 2 breaks the other had 4! I don't understand why the two pants were different, as I musn't have grown between trying both pairs on. Also, both the blazer and slacks were very poorly ironed, and there were still chalk marks on the blazer.
Overall, the bill came to $68 which seems reasonable -- but not for the work I received. I suppose you get what you pay for, and because there seemed to be a relative lack of attention to detail, I would only take casual clothes to him, and not something that really needed to look its best on.
