Dentcare provided the root canal and crown, for the price stated in their benefits section. When it came to the crown lengthening procedure, they did not cover the amount. The crown lengthening is an essential ingredient for the service of the tooth I needed fixed. What is the logic in providing for the beginning, but not the end, product. If you go in for an appendectomy, it is tantamount for the insurance company saying, "We will pay for the removal of the appendix, but we do not cover the sutures and the closing of the wound." If Dentcare can provide me with a reasonable rationale for their decision not to cover this procedure, I will raise my star total significantly. The procedure cost me $900.00. That's what their rationale is, and was. It transferred that cost, very effectively, onto my shoulders, and not out of their bottom line. They essentially have you by your privates, and they know it.
Also, by the time you purchase the "coverage", come down with a problem that needs attention, get in the dentist's chair, it is too late. You can never examine all the information as to what is, and what is not, covered. You are stuck in the mud they created. Their answer to my questioning all this was, " We at Healthplex, take your concerns seriously...according to your plan..crown lengthening on tooth #29...is not a covered service..." I'm just wondering about tooth #30, if I should need it.
