I love this place unfortunately the grimey hipsters and moronic melenials do to. Go back home to minnesota and spend your undeserved trust fund there!!!

Had it yesterday the chicken was rubbery it Tasted like freezer burn and the sauce was old I had to throw out the rest I could not eat it. I have had them before and was happy. Not sure what happened yesterday thursday at 12 hopefully it wont happen again. I will give it another shot next week.
I tried Parissi's today and was fresh ans yummy. I remember when Defontes used to taste like that.
Advice: please dont serve yesterdays meals to save a buck. Feed it to the pigoens not me :(

We saw this diner on Guy Fieri's, Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. We decided that on our next trip from FL we would go. Not only was it far from the train station, but it was an expensive dive. Plus, we had to sit outside on picnic benches in their parking lot to eat. My wife's egg plant - roast beef - mozzarella hero was totally tasteless, not even pepper helped. The day of the show, the place looked big and spacious, but in actuality 5 people ordering take out fills the place. The customer service was aok. Also, bring some cash, since it is Cash Only. We were not impressed!! We could find better sub places in South Florida. Sorry, Fieri but this one is a BUST!

Grew up down the block from this historical sandwich shop known back in the day as Nick's Heros. We had to have ham cheese lettuce tomatoes salt n pepper, oil and vinegar and mayo. Going on a class trip, every kid had to have a hero from Nick's. First time I had eggplant was from this historical site. Everything is delicious!

The food is outstanding!!!! I had the roast beef with eggplant and fresh mozzarella w/ gravy. My wife had the Valentino, eggplant and roasted peppers, provolone... But instead of provolone she had it with fresh mozzarella.... The service was great. The place is very clean. I had one of there sandwiches before that a friend at work picked up. I never been there until today, and although it is a little trip to get there from Queens, I would definitely make the trip again. My wife who is a picky eater loved her sandwich and went as far as to lick her fingers and keeps repeating I enjoyed that. Thank you Defontes for the courtesy service and excellent sandwiches, we will be back very soon.
