If Willy Wonka were Canadian and decided to go into the tea business, this is what he would have wanted to create.
DAVIDs channels the excitement of early '90s Starbucks (I know it's blasphemy, but you have to see the similarities) and offers a welcoming/bright atmosphere with happy and helpful employees.
When ordering, the tea-rista sensed that I didn't know the difference between Earl Grey and English Breakfast, much less that I could fathom their 150 flavors on the wall ("mate...is that Australian?"). So he brought 5 canisters of flavors for me to smell, including playful names like "Fantasy Island" and "Brazillionaire." Incredible. I picked the Chocolate Chili Chai and was not disappointed -- in fact, it is difficult to articulate how a coffee-lover like myself would prefer this beverage on a cold Saturday afternoon.
Also, it doesn't hurt that prices are reasonable (roughly $3 for a 'grande'-style cup).
If this company were publicly traded, I would be all over it in a second. But alas, it's private.

This place is definitely a must go. It's beautiful! The forever nuts tea, with a little bit of soy milk... is heaven. If you like tea at all then you must go to Davids tea!

This is amazing Tea Shop, one of the best. With an amazing staff that are always allowing guests to try new flavors and tastes by season. It's a cozy location close to Hunter college. Gotta try Santa's Tea.

I'm giving this place 4 stars based on their superb service. As for their teas, 3 stars.
All the employees were amazing. They really take the time to recommend a tea for you if you ask for it and they let you smell the various leaves that you're interested in. In only a short span of 1 hr, we got to know all the employees for that day and they even gave us a free davdstea coupon. I gave one of the workers a North Shore Animal League coupon but they were in no way a consequence/result of one another.
I really like the decor of the place and the roominess. It's an extremely relaxing atmosphere. I like this setup better than Kusmi's Tea. Great place to hang out during the hot summer days.
As for the tea, despite the strong aroma from the tea leaves, it failed to translate into my cup of green tea (forgot which type). The tea wasn't brewed long enough and I don't even think the water was hot enough. What would be better idea is if they just gave you the entire pot and you just "brew" it yourself. It would be a different business model and different from Kusmi's Tea and Press Tea.
I would come here just because of service and free AC. If you want a strong cup of tea at a different price point, you can go elsewhere.
