This man is possibly the least understanding doctor I have ever come across. I am a 24 year old female who has suffered from life long health issues. In recent years, I have had an issue with seizure like activity. I have had a number of surgeries and procedures done, and kept having neurological episodes when coming out of anesthesia. I've had some workup done before which pointed towards maybe nocturnal epilepsy or some other unknown problem. I recently moved and am attending school in Essex County, so I couldn't make the 2+ hour trip back to Philadelphia to see the specialists, so they sent me up my medical history and some referral forms. I ended up getting scheduled to see Dr. Blady, who was supposed to be a great neurologist.
From the moment I got into the appointment, he started mocking me. I sat down in the chair and he pulled up my chart from in-network and saw I was at a cardiologist a week or two prior. He starts off with "Pfff, why is a 24 year old going to a cardiologist?". I was taken aback, and explained that my new PCP sent me there to followup on a heart murmur and a pretty severe arrhythmia. The cardiologist was great, fortunately.
He then went on to continue putting me down. He left the room with his student to allow me to change into a fairly humiliating gown that seemed like it was made from dollar store tissue paper. He came back and asked why I had so many surgeries, referring to my bi-lateral knee reconstruction from last year... I replied that my joints are very painful and constantly grinding. He said "so are mine, but I don't run off getting a bunch of surgeries"... Thanks, you're also a 50 or 60 something year old man... I've had Mixed Connective Tissue Disease for most of my life, leaving me fairly disabled.
He continued on and said I looked "fit as a rose" or something along those lines... and that nothing was wrong with me and he disagreed with the dozen or so other doctors who had been treating me back in Philly for many many years. Cool, thanks... He told me I should stop taking my medications and "learn to deal with what god dealt me". Very helpful.
I left the room sobbing and mortified.
If you want to be judged by a miserable old prick who probably still believes women should be treated for "hysteria", Dr. Blady is your guy!
