Dr Cernea helped my daughter through a serious illness with compassion and medical expertise that is so rare to find these days. She is extraordinarily dedicated to the very highest standards of medicine and I recommend her unconditionally.

My mother was a patient of Dr. Cernea's for many years. In 2013 Dr. Cernea detected elevated lab results following a routine physical. She had the tests immediately redone, instead of waiting a few months which would normally been the protocol had she not been so familiar with my mother's medical history which indicated she had never had these issues in the past. The results were the same and Dr. Cernea immediately referred her for further testing. Within days my mom was diagnosed with Stage IIIB cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) & was informed by the oncologist that the tumor was inoperable and that she had approximately 5 months to live. Dr. Cernea assisted my mother with a referral to Memorial Sloan-Kettering for a 2nd opinion where she met a brilliant surgeon that specialized in the treatment of cholangiocarcinoma named Dr. Yuman Fong. He deemed her to be a surgical candidate. She endured an extensive surgery followed by many months of chemotherapy. I was 8 months pregnant with my son when my mother was diagnosed. Because of Dr. Cernea's clinical expertise, my mother was at my son's birth and spent much of the next year enjoying precious time with her family. Throughout my mom's treatment, Dr. Cernea and her staff regularly called to check in on my mom. Sadly my mother had a recurrence in Sept. 2014 and passed away a few months later. My family will be forever grateful to Dr. Cernea and her staff for the amazing clinical care and emotional support they provided both of my parents. Because of Dr. Cernea we had a full year of priceless borrowed time with my mom. She saw 3 grandchildren come into the world in that year. Dr. Cernea will forever have a special place in all of our hearts.

Dr. Cernea is a wonderful doctor. Her staff are always pleasant, friendly, and know me by name. She does a great job of addressing all areas of your health and has great recommendations for specialists should you need one. It especially impresses me when she introduces solutions other than medication (i.e yoga/meditation to treat anxiety) and if something just isn't working for you, she will listen and guide you in another directions to find a more suitable arrangement based on your needs. Dr. Cernea is a kind, knowledgeable, and very personable doctor and I would recommend her to anyone in need of a primary care physician.

Dr. Cernea is actually my elderly father's physician. She and her staff, with considerable skill and knowledge, deftly navigated the range of physical and social challenges that he presented. I am very grateful to her for her kindness and capacity to manage his complex medical condition and needs. My father is able to live a more comfortable and full life due to her acumen and support.
