I was at this park for a child's birthday party on August 10. It has good playground equipment. The kids like the option of playing in the sand and in the sprinklers. There is also lots of space to run around and lots of parking on weekends.
However, I cannot recommend this park because of the hazards posed in the oak trees above the playground. They are in desperate need of attention with so much rotting dead wood. There is a limb about 15 feet long that has already broken off and is rest on some branches just 25 feet above the swingset. There are longer limbs still attached but showing clear signs of death and decay.
I spoke to two workers present in the park at the time about the hazards, but they said they were unable to do anything about it until Monday. If you bring your children here, look up at the trees and be aware of wood that could fall and injure your child. Or just stay away until the Parks District fixes the problem.
