This place could be amazing. Echoing the other reviews, the music is extremely terrible. It surprises me every time I'm there with how terrible and repetitive it is. I'm not sure who its for, as literally every patron has headphones in... Also, an update to the decor in there would be nice, it kind of feels like a lazer tag course from 1998.
There are a good assortment of machines of all kinds, which are usually relatively clean and functional, and there usually isnt a wait for anything. The mens bathroom at least is always well stocked and reasonably clean.
I do feel like this place is only as expensive as it is (I pay $93 a month, I don't get any kind of discount through work or anything) because its the only gym in its area, and its in the dead center of a super nice area. Anyone interested in running a gym should very seriously consider opening something similar / cheaper just a few blocks to the east.

Nice gym. Good classes. Friendly staff. Not the most modern of facilities, particularly the bathrooms. THE MUSIC IS UNBEARABLE. Terrible junk pop blasting at all times.

The trainers are insanely overbearing and uneducated. They will bug you while they're supposed to be training someone else and give you bad advice. They give bad nutritional advice that does against your goals and is dangerous. They told me to do a different exercise that worked a completely different muscle group. I was also hit on repeatedly by a trainer.
There's only 1 squat rack that's never free. There's no platform for deadlifts or olympic lifts. There's not even any room for that kind of stuff.
There's a huge start up cost for the membership and it's a pain in the ass to cancel. You can't even cancel at the location. You have to call a 1800 number and be put on hold forever and talk to someone who barely speaks English who makes it difficult to cancel.
If you only do cardio and love to chat to trainers with an ego problem, this is the place for you. Absolute worst gym I've ever been to.
But, the manager Jason is the greatest. He deserves a raise.

I've been a crunch memeber for many years. While, I love how clean and friendly this place is, I feel like I'm stepping over personal trainers left and right at this location. there's hardly any floor space for regular gym goers to work out. Very frustrating and not really worth 100 bucks a month....

I was in town for just a week and wanted a place to work out - weights and cardio. Being just across the street from where I was staying, Crunch was the most convenient option so I went there first. And I went no further - the facilities are outstanding! Loads of cardio options, lots of brand new machines, and an assortment of free weights. They also have personal training and various classes, but I didn't attend make use of either. It begins to get crowded at 5pm - just as any good gym does - but I didn't have trouble using the equipment that I wanted to.
Based on my limited experience there, Crunch Park Slope is an excellent gym.
