There is a nasty cashier named Gayle. She's been there for years. Why the owners keep her is beyond many of the customers comprehension. But you do see her "helping" other customers (maybe family/friends). If you know what we're saying. Owners can't be to bright if they don't know what's going on.

Large variety of fruits and veggies and the best prices around on produce.... if you know how to pick them out, they will last in your home until you're ready to eat them. I go there once a week for my produce / milk / eggs and never have a problem with stuff going bad. Love the granola / nuts / dried fruits aisle. I rarely go to the bakery, deli, meat or seafood departments because you have to pay separately at each place and some of them don't take credit cards... so annoying to have to pay separately at different places inside of the same store!!! The seafood department has a nice selection, fair prices and is very fresh.

I shopped at Cross Island Fruits the first time this past Sunday. I purchased california peaches, 1.99LB, and they are both hard and rotten inside. I ordered fresh mozzarella from the deli, over $7 and it was not light and airy, it was same as if I purchased POLLO from prepackaged refrigerator section. The avocado's were 1.49 each, soft and adequate but relatively bland as compared to Trader Joes. The bread was adequate from the bakery but lacked real flavor. The only thing that was better than average was the meat.
In summary, this is over priced and stocked with sub par quality fruits. I have not tried any of their vegetables but certainly won't shop there again. I can just throw my money in the garbage it would be less aggravating. A $125 lesson and a caution to anyone else who thinks the prices their are reflective of superior quality.
