Nice cosy joint good for catching up or as a relaxed breakfast spot. Tried the country omelette and blintzes with cheese + fruit- both were great though the blintzes (crepes) had a bit too much cheese- some may like that! I have also had the challah french toast and its pretty okay. The hot chocolate was pretty good this past winter morning that I was there. The "upstairs" seating is right in front of the kitchen so it kind of gives a homely, artisanal vibe. The cakes and pastries on display look great- those are the next on our list to try. If you are a couple, you will probably get a seat faster esp on weekends. Tight seating but nice friendly folks.

Love this place. So glad it's still here. So many of the old stores are gone now from the neighborhood but this tried & true place continues to be an excellent bakery. They do an excellent job writing on birthday cakes while you wait.

Cozy bakery/cafe with cute interior decor in the back. The pastry here is great and the cake is delicious. I really enjoyed the chocolate mousse cake - light, fluffy, moist cake and just enough taste of chocolate but not overly sweet. A large cake is in the $30s and can be easily shared by 10 to 12 people. I'd definitely come back and try their other cakes.

It's a good brunch, but definitely feels like eating in a bakery. Because of the less formal restaurant setting the prices are very reasonable for brunch, although they feel right for the place. They do egg dishes and stuff, so it's not just bakery food for brunch. The seating area is tiny and pretty cramped. The free chocolate bread with preserves is really great, the bread is fresh and soft and nicely chocolatey, but not overwhelming. The egg dishes are large, and come with the option of a croissant, which is also huge. The cheese blintzes are rich and very filled, and surrounded by preserves and whipped cream. The espresso drinks, at least the latte, tasted burnt, but it was strong, if not the tastiest coffee drink. The service is good, and we didn't feel rushed, if anything the service was a bit slow, but that was fine. Some bike parking outside would be nice. There's a bus stop right outside, and it's an easy walk from Grand Army Plaza. The bakery selection is impressive and it all looks good, and the croissant was good if that's some indication. If you eat there you can see them making everything right in the back, it's all fresh-made in-house, and they seem to be going constantly.
