My wife and I stayed June 5th through 7th, 2015. On the way, driving through that section of Rye, with its industrial look, cheap strip malls, poor housing, and laundromats with fat women and their children on the sidewalk, I feared the worst. Fortunately, after all that, we found the Courtyard to be an oasis.
Outside, the grounds were beautifully kept. Unfortunately, parking is barely adequate. Two (unused) electric car recharging stations take up 3 of the best spaces, and unless you luck out, you will park 100 yards from the entrance. The door to the pool area doesn't close properly. The "keys," often a problem, worked perfectly. The hallway carpeting, with weird, African-style stripes, was not to my liking. The rooms had shortcomings. I prefer overhead lighting, but instead there were area lamps, converted to fluorescent, which threw out little light. The TV channels changed slowly. The dial on the iron was illegible. The waste baskets were too small. The bathroom was the worst part of the suite. The lighting was inadequate for putting on make-up. There was no carpet to step on when exiting the shower. The shower head wouldn't stay where it was directed. There was no shelf for shampoo, etc. There was no vent, generally required by building code. There was no heat lamp, or the equivalent, to take the chill off, coming out of the shower. Still, with its cleanliness, the TV, the fridge, the coffee maker, the iron and ironing board, a perfectly functioning heater/AC unit, and the wi-fi, the suite was adequate.
To make up for some shortcomings, there was an outstanding staff, from LaShanda, Sean and others at the front desk, the custodial staff and the maids. All were super friendly and helpful. They are all "keepers."
