I used Countryside Chimney for the installation of a chimney liner. James Fox was a pleasure to deal with and I would definitely recommend Countryside.

Buyer Beware!

I hired them to perform a chimney cleaning, which they did, and to replace a bolt which held the damper together. It had fallen out for the 4th time in twenty years and I didn't want to sift through the ashes to find and replace it myself, which I had done the previous times! We called Countryside...WHAT A MISTAKE!!!
When the serviceman finally showed up two days later than promised, he tried to sell my wife an $850 new damper! After dropping the price to $750, to which my wife still insisted "please just fix the damper", he left to return to his truck where he called Fox, the owner. When he returned to the house ten minutes later, and once again failed to try to sell my wife the new "discounted" damper once again, he agreed to fix the damper but insisted that he couldn't "guarantee any of the work".

He returned to the kitchen about two minutes later, and acted as if he had just turned water into wine! "What a miracle I was able to fix this!"... Then he promptly charged my wife $275, just to replace a bolt!

When I saw the charge, I called the owner, argued that it was abusive and he agreed to send me $125 refund. I thought that paying this guy $150 to replace a bolt more than compensated him and more than punished me for my laziness and stupidity in not researching the company.

Well, the work was done 12/13/2013, I spoke to Fox, the owner the following week of Dec. 16th, and he promised to send me a refund the following morning. I'm still waiting!

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME WITH THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF AND LIED TO!

Countryside did a very good job installing my Chimney Cap. They came on time. The crew was very neat and covered the floors. They cleaned up after the job. And the price was very fair. Thank you for a job well done. I would tell my friends and neighbors to use you for any of their chimney needs.

Hey ....I thought I would share my that experience with Countryside Chimney was , to say the least , a smooth solution to a horrible situation. I had by furnace shut off by pse&g in the am due to co2 alarms going off. They told me (pse&g) that i was lucky to be alive. PSE&G recommended Countryside and I'm glad they did! The problem was diagnosed in 30 minutes after I told them the house had children and pets. Not to mention my 89 year old grandmother who is not doing well as it is. Well ! They actually stopped working ,came to my house , and corrected the problem within 1.5 hours!

Do not hire this company! They may or may not get the job done, but I can tell you they are very unprofessional. James Fox is the owner, and he simply just does not get back to you. He will be very eager and cordial upon contracting the work, but once that's done, don't expect any professionalism. During our initial meeting, he was keen on telling me, I don't know if other contractors have told you this, but you need a permit, but don't worry we'll get that for you, all you have to do is pay for it. Come work day, hes late, its cold, I haven't had heat for 4 days, and finally his guys come to do the work. He doesn't have the permit that day and says, oh don't worry, I'm going to do all my permit stuff tomorrow and I will get back to you. I haven't heard about it since. I have called this man numerous times, different times of the week, left messages and to no avail. Its been almost 2 weeks now, and I have yet to hear back on the permit. I will be taking this up with the BBB. My advice, look for someone else.
