My brother and I are natives of East Orange, NJ. We live in Houston, TX now, but we came back recently for a funeral. We decided to stop by the "old haunt"--Cooper's Deli on Orange Street. I got the corned beef on whole wheat with coleslaw and mustard. They didn't have sauerkraut. My brother got the hot pastrami on a roll with lettuce, tomato and mustard. The sandwiches were smelling up the car so bad we had to pull over and eat them! I got a bean pie, too. I woulda got the banana pudding, as well but I didn't want to be a piggie. This place is a NJ tradition. It has always been around in my 43 years and my family, no matter where they are in the country still reminisces about Cooper's sandwiches. Love these folks! :)
