Consulate General of India

This is one of the worst bureaucratic places, perhaps worse than even the famed and disgusting govt. offices in India. Got misleading information about counter timings, documents needed and fees on the phone, website and application forms.

I had applied for renunciation in 2013 and paid the fees etc. However, they returned my passport without the the stamp of renunciation. Not knowing what to check I put the documents away. Now that I am applying for my sons OCI they are asking me to reapply for renunciation and this time with penalty for delay. So basically they want me to pay for their lack of service in the first time around.
Even if one argues that I share the blame for not checking the first time around(no information was provided on what to check) I am okay to share the cost of fixing the issue however they would like me to pay the penalty and reapply which means I am bearing the entire cost of a service that they did not perform.
Little do they realize what kind of reputation they are creating for India...Hope all this modernization that India is striving for touches our pathetic consulate services..

I had to get a document notorized and it is just terrible service
They kept saying their internal system is down for hours
I would never go back there and would advice anyone wanting anything done with these people to stay away

Very very bad experience to my wife and 6 week old baby today .. Staff behaviour is pathetic, should have hired staff with at least some manners.
I would like to quote the word " culturless".
