Walked in with a Mavic Ksyrium broken spoke and walked out in less than 15 minutes with a fix and nicely trued up wheel

I know how to work on my bikes, and will rarely bring one in for service. But I had a problem that I just couldn't figure out after shipping a bike to NYC andKerry reassembling it. I brought it in, andctimin the mechanic on duty diagnosed my stupid mistake in about 45 seconds, fixed it while I was laughing at myself, and refused to charge me. So I bought a bunch of "commodities" at the shop that I would normally buy on the web - more expensive- but I want to support the shop. Rubber side down, Conrad rocks!

Be careful with this place, they are very nice people with great service and a sense of humour, before you know it you will happily be buying stuff.
I have lived in NYC for almost two years and tried bike shops with varying degrees of satisfaction all over Manhattan and Brooklyn, spending money on parts/services/ and one new bike for my kid.
Cool for school places like Velo and my local Metro, plus some other hipster style places who disappointed. Without doubt Conrads has them covered and worth the mission to get to, the only thing missing is an espresso machine (or I didn't see it).

Took my girlfriend's relatively new bike in
to just have it looked at because one of the wheel reflectors dislodged,
and threw her off of it.
I just asked for them to take the reflector off (7 seconds)
because if I did it I'd prob bend a spoke,
and then take a look to see if everything is aligned.
The clerk was friendly, but didn't mention anything about a price.
Upon her picking it up, she was charged $50
for a full tune up.
Not asked for, and definitely not needed.
Seemed excessive for however much time they must've spent with it.
More like a $20 job for removing a reflector and
tightening some stuff in under 10 minutes max.
So do you due diligence,
find out what the $ is going to be if it makes any difference to you.
