The museum and their annual event, the Mermaid Parade have become Coney Island institutions. Their annual Gala held at the Museum is a great way to see and support this jewel.

The new remodeling is nice, but, while sounding oxymoronic, it took away the nostalgic feel of the vintage park. I still dig it. It's like The Boardwalk in NJ, but closer and smaller.

For $10 it's worth checking out once. The sword swallower and contortionist were pretty impressive, The other acts were ok but overall it was an entertaining time. All my friends seemed to enjoy it.

This is my go-to beach that may get a little loud but is nothing your headphones cam't drown out. Great people-watching and events all summer. From Friday night fireworks to flea markets with local food vendors to events like the Mermaid Parade, there is something for everyone.

If you go early enough, you can get free street parking close enough. Coney Island can get real crowded during the summertime and when they have fireworks. The big is long and towards the evening, the crowd thins out and it's nice to walk on the beach. For thrills, try out the new Luna Park.
