I have tuned into Comedy Central every night from 11 pm to 12:30am and I enjoy the three shows. I look forward to watching each new episode from The Daily Show to @Midnight.
I congratulate your Company on having two Black hosts for the two shows that deal with current events I think Trevor Noah is finding his voice. Mr. Noah is very brave to follow Jon Stewart who was able to hone his craft and his voice over the many years he had been the host.
Larry Wilmore has an American Black voice and I have learned a lot from him. I am a middle aged white woman and presently residing in Florida, (but don't that against me).
I completely agree with him regarding his show highlighting Trevoyn Martin's killer who believed his fire arm held some intrinsic value and uploaded it to a bidding site. That was disgusting.
I easily picked up on the whole Hell doesn't want Treyvon's killer bit. Great idea and very funny except for using Adolph Hitler so lightly when one considers he started WWII and killed tens of millions of people; these included Gypsies, Catholics, Homosexuals, Teachers, Scholars and Politicians but mainly six million Jews.
I've noticed a trend on Comedy Central shows: the rise of Jew jokes. When Jewish comedians make fun of Jews I laugh out loud. For example, when Mel Brooks portrayed Nazis he showed them as sinister and comical at the same time. Your Hitler was comical but not sinister at all, and therein lies the problem,
Idi Amin was portrayed as the nutty dictator of Uganda that he was, and his uniform at least led viewers, who may not know Uganda's bloody history during the 1970's, but know the uniform signified danger and intimidation.
What would have been funny to me was to bring out a version of Hitler who came out as the ruthless dictator who ran his political campaigns on ridding Germany of all of its Jews(Just as Drumph makes promises to kick out Mexicans and keep out Muslims), and to that end built Concentration Camps in order to systematically and efficiently kill the inmates. You could have had a line about turning human beings into soap to prove he was an evil being walking the earth and even he would veto Zimmerman's permission to enter Hell.
Mr. Wilmore your version of Hitler was not funny. Your Hitler trivialized one of the worst genocides in modern history. I would never trivialize the exploitation of Blacks, uprooted from their homes to become someones property to pick cotton and be treated worse than farm animals. I would not trivialize the history of Black Americans and their oppression which continues to this day by creating a war on drugs to incarcerate slave labor in our Penal System.
I am not thin skinned and I am not of the politically correct contingency of college students who take issue with everything. My complaints are specific to the Holocaust. My parents are survivors and like many children of survivors we are left to insure no one ever forgets the Holocausts.
Mel Brooks Hitler played by Dick Shawn as a hipster was hysterical and brought the audience back to their seats in The Producers. Your Hitler trivialized anti-Semitism which we all know is on the rise and is very dangerous.
