Absolutely gorgeous restaurant. Great ambiance and amazing food for all occasions. It's a little bit of a walk from the subway being on 10th ave, but well worth the trip. Recommended that you get reservations ahead of time as it does get busy.

I just called to inquire about the fare for Easter brunch.... Got laughed at by the gentleman on the phone because "they don't care about Easter" they are only worried right now about Valentine's Day! Incredibly rude.

In a city with remarkable cooking chops the food here is decidedly unremarkable. We ate 8 items off the menu. Here is the breakdown. Baby romaine with quinoa and buttermilk was simply a Caesar salad, the quinoa was gritty rather than crunchy. Hamachi with caviar - this was a salt lick, the salt should have come from the caviar but the whole plate tasted like it had been dredged with iodized salt. The foie Gras was good. I would order this again. The broccoli pasta was the worst dish of the night, flavorless noodles in water. This might have worked if the sauce had been reduced by half. Pancetta pork - dry and tough. Venison good but not memorable well cooked with a wine reduction. The flavor was one note but at least that note was good. Lime pastry was good. Chocolate eclair came with ice cream and malted milk crumbles. The eclair was a throw away but the chocolate ice cream was terrific. Overall this food is passable about equivalent to a longhorn restaurant.

I've always wanted an excuse to hit Colicchio & Sons. Not sure why as I haven't ever watched any show that the chef in question has been on; I guess I just always heard the name with a good bit of hype attached to it and was curious. One day recently I was meeting up with a friend in Chelsea Market, but he was in a grumpy mood and didn't "want to be around all the f***ing tourists". Looking across the street, I suggested this and he agreed. The Tap Room is very pretty as you could expect with a lot of rustic, reclaimed wood and classy decor. We grabbed a table by the window which was nice. We skipped drinks but I saw that the beer list was interesting with a few very week priced finds on it. The service was slow given how many staff there were and that we were one of only a few tables; waiting 20 minutes for an iced tea did not improve my friend's mood. I was undeterred though; after all, this place should be about the food first and foremost, right? Ehhh. We each got a mussels appetizer for lunch and our reactions were the same: it was alright but nothing special. The mussels were very small and other than small hints of garlic and pepper, the broth was not very flavorful. My friend remarked that we could've done a better job at home and I reluctantly agreed. To say that about some random restaurant you happen upon is one thing. Here it was plain old disappointing. Too bad, as I would around the corner and like the place otherwise.
