Cohen's Fashion Optical - Roosevelt Field Mall

Went there for an eye exam because I found a coupon for $20 promotional price. The sales associate told me that I could get it for free if my insurance covers it, and it turns out my insurance does cover eye exams, so I got the eye exam there. The doctor who examined me was VERY VERY RUDE and got impatient when I didn't respond to his questions right away. He told me that I have an eye booger on my eye, so he cleaned it with a Q-tip. Three months later, I got a statement from my insurance company claiming $1150 worth of procedures that he did, including two charges for "eye surgery", and six "other medical services". I called up my insurance company asking what those surgeries were about, and they told me that the doctor claimed that I had problems with my eyelids and he did procedures on me. HOW???? How did an eye exam turned into an eye surgery with Cohen's optical store in a mall?

This place is basically a store rife with fraudulent practices. First off the quality of lens is actually lower than what you think you are getting. Second, everything is overpriced and they make you feel like they're doing you any good when they offer you the phony discounts; you're basically overpaying by the hundreds for anything you get there. Then they persuade you to think you're getting a good product. The frames are real but very overpriced, and then the lenses are fakes. They wear out very quickly, easily smudged or scratched you name it. Finally, when you order stuff you might as well come back in a month's time cause they'll give you all sort of excuses that they are still awaiting it from the manufacturer, even if the manufacturer is in Italy. Most of the things they have on display are not in stock, they basically order it straight from the manufacturer after you make a purchase, and make you wait weeks for it to arrive. I dare the manager to debunk this claim. They claim 7-10 business days to get your glasses but it takes a month.

I could say people are nice. However, they will force you to get an expensive brand of contacts. If it is your first time, they will make you feel like you have no choice because of some reason. I ordered my contacts monday last week but I havent received it yet. Apparently, they didnt ship my order.

The doctor was nice and all, but the staff are VERY pushy and will do anything they can to try to sell you something even if you don't want it. Also the frames/lenses are ridiculously over priced.

Always excellent service, especially from the contacts department.
