Had the lobster roll, which was served as two tiny 3" separate sandwiches. Very good, but very small.
The mussels? Although the Thai sauce was good, many shells were empty..and the others were not very good. Lastly, and most disappointing: at the end of the meal-and as we presented the credit cards for payment, the waiter quietly advised that they were accepting CASH only at this time. There was no sign, no prior mention of the fact! My friend left in the cold to find cash nearby! HORRIBLE...
Here's a tip: Post it..or else you're stuck with the bill.

I went recently to enjoy their RW menu with Lapin. I had a reservation but I was completely ignored by hostess/managers. I had to ask them almost 4 times how long the wait would be as the restaurant was packed but there were still empty seats. After being told we would have to wait 30 minutes we walked around and then came back to more waiting. Finally, I made it clear I was waiting for quite some time and there were empty seats. When the hospitality of a restaurant is poor, it ruins the mood for your entire meal.
The service was okay and the food was alright. The crab gazpacho (had small slivers of crab on top) was small but tasty to Lapin who loves cilantro. The Mexican Shrimp Cocktail had a lot of shrimp for a small cup but lacked flavor. The 2 pound lobster stuffed with crab (is actually roughly 1/3 of a crabcake) was overcooked and a bit cold when it came ( the plating was rushed and messy look, crab bits were all over the plate--I am no Gordon Ramsey but after watching enough episodes one expects the plating of an entree to be on par especially at a restaurant with this price point). The meat was tough and rubbery. The butter was very light and watered down as well. I would recommend adding a bit of salt to make it taste better. The sorbets were good but had a bit of ice (so be careful -- I thought I broke a tooth when I took a mouthful and felt something hard) and the guava cake was okay. I like the cake wasn't a huge fan of the guava filling used.
The RW menu is a good value for $38 but the service is lacking. The top floor male and female bathrooms were a bit filthy and the floors are sticky. I would recommend avoiding the top floor bathroom. FYI, keep your receipt if you book through OpenTable because when I got home I got an email saying the Restaurant cancelled. This way it would be easier for you to email OT to get your points because when I called City Crab they said yeah they would take care of it, but it still hasn't been taken care off.

With an insatiable appetite for seafood and working close by, I visit this place way more often than I should. The food is pretty tasty but some items are better than others, like the crab cake sandwich is decent but not the best while the lobster and crab legs are cooked to perfection. Usually, the service is on point but lately I received crappy service where they would forget my app/dessert, given me the wrong order or while I am still eating my entree [and before my dessert even arrives] present me with the check without me asking for it. Two things to note, if you are lazy [like me], use the downstairs bathroom -- it's rarely packed and if you see MP near anything any make sure to ask for the price otherwise you might end up with sticker shock.

WORST EVER...YOU MUST READ THIS!!!
This restaurant is the most unorganized and unprofessional place we had been to in NYC. Been to more than 100 restaurants in NYC in the past 20 years but this was by far the worst. Had a birthday party for my daughter. Signed a contract three weeks before the party and paid our $1000 deposit. Date, Time, Food was all discussed written and verified on a contract. A week before we verified the party, 2 days before we reviewed the time and the menu and the count of the 21 people in my party. The day of the party Mr. Miles from City Crab called me to verify the final party count. When I got to the restaurant at 6:15pm the host and hostess looked at me and said hold on they need to call Mr. MIles. He came running down and asked what are you doing here you are early I have you at 8:00pm. I said you got to be kidding we discussed 6:30pm and my contract also states that. He did not believe and asked me verify so I had to show him my contract. He said "oh boy" and ran off meanwhile I had at least 17 of my 21 people waiting. We finally got to our private room and there were three round tables so all of the family and friends were separated. Now we have been to many restaurants for these types of gatherings and we always had one long table where the guests can be together. When I told him that the two birthday girls were not happy he said it was too late to change it around. Then my brother who got in from Connecticut called me and said the front desk host did not know where my party was so I had to go downstairs to welcome them. I saw Mr. Miles (our party maitre d) and expressed my discontent with the level of service. Shortly after that the appetizers came out and they put it on a table and he said would you like to serve yourselves. I said no especially when I am paying for a private room and have 3% banquet fee. The appetizers was barely enough but I was very annoyed and decided to just move along to dinner. Then he brought out the menus for entrees and that was incorrect also as one of the entrees we ordered was not on the menu. He told me they ran out. How can you run out when you had three weeks to prepare. Then he told me he will give a replacement fish as an upgrade which was B.S. like if this was the first I am having seafood. So while the entrees were coming the birthday girls who were very unhappy actually demanded that he changed the tables to one large rectangular table. Mr. Miles kept telling me in my ear that he will make things right but nothing was done to accommodate us in regards to food or drinks. The food was so inadequate that I had to order $638 worth of crab legs to appease my guests. So a hefty bill, a room fee of almost $600, an additional gratuity fee of another $600 and the worst customer experience we have ever experienced they deserved a negative one.
Finally, this group of people that attended our party included Doctors, Surgeon, Presidents and Vice Presidents of major NY companies. The reason for stating this is that we were a bunch professional people that were treated very poorly. The price of the food does not equate to the experience you will find at City Crab. Go elsewhere there are better places in the city.
One note: After dessert we found a music system within the private room and proceeded to play music and dance a bit which was the highlight of the evening. We made the most of it.

There are all walks.Lively young party crowds, children with grandparents, surfers, romantics. seems they all get along. City Crab & Seafood Co. was a wonderful perch to enjoy the beautiful beach view and all the action on the waterfront. the service was excellent but not pretentious .the food and wine pairing were super.I'll definitely go back.
