My mom had been to their other restaurant in Union and liked it so we jumped off 22 to try this one on Christmas eve. We tried two different soups, one of which has been a family recipe for the last 35 years, and a slice of pizza. Everything was amazing and we were even given a free side of sauce and fresh bread to try. The sauce was very flavorful and balanced and you could really taste the basil, oregano, and garlic. My mom still can't stop raving about how good the soup was. Lots of great Italian dishes which all looked fresh and tasty were ready for you to pick up and take home. I wanted to try them all. The cannolis were freshly filled and amazing too.
Not sure why some people had a bad experience, but when we walked in we were very warmly greeted by all the employees which was very nice. Three different employees and the owner all came over and talked to us for quite a while, asked us where we were from, and made sure we liked our food and went over and above just serving us. Not sure why others had a bad experience but I'm generally nice to everybody so I usually get the same attitude back ;-)
We are definitely making a detour off 22 to go here again.

Went in with my girlfriend once, brunette, and the guy behind the counter, in his broken English said, "hey you were in here last week with a blond," accusing me of being with another woman than my girlfriend, IN FRONT OF HER, YOU HER EVEN. I've haven't dated a blonde in many years, last add-ons the year I'd known of Cioffi's.
This after I'd been a customer for a year, going in every week or two.
Disgusting, rude and outwardly disrespectful "service." Might as well have flipped his chin at me and insulted my mother.

We just moved to the area a few days ago and Cioffi's is just down the block. I decided to stop in and was pleasantly surprised to see so many of my favorite selections that I would see in my local Salumerias and Italian Delis back in Brooklyn and Staten Island. Not only was the food as delicious as it looked, but the service was exceptional. Everyone greeted me with a smile, and when I mentioned that I just moved here, they asked my name, gave me a warm welcome, and one of the owners even sent me with a parting gift (a few freshly roasted Italian chili peppers)! Can't wait to go back =)

At 5:13, I placed an order for a low-fat focaccia pizza and a spinach salad with chicken. After repeating my order 3 separate times to 2 persons, I was told-- as is the norm with take-out-- that it would be ready in 15 minutes. About 10 minutes later, I left to pick it up at the restaurant, which is a mere 2 miles and 5 minutes from me. When I arrived, the salad was prepared, the pizza was not. It is normal to give 5-10 minutes grace period for food to be prepared, as it is not an exact science and establishments can be swamped at times. I waited an additional 37 MINUTES in the restaurant, for a total preparation time of 52 minutes!! I waited partially because my order was already in and it was snowing and partially out of curiosity-- to see what sort of remedy and apology Cioffi's would offer. A simple "sorry for the wait" would suffice for a 10 minute wait, and that's all I got. A true professional establishment would at least offer a partial refund for such egregious service, which I did not get. The pizza was fine-- could have used more salt-- and the salad was quite good. Not everyone will experience the same awful service I did, but if and when you do, don't expect any sort of professionalism from Cioffi's. I WILL NOT BE RETURNING HERE. On a side note, I had previously been here for lunch-- very good sandwiches but far higher price than normal for a Central Jersey establishment. Try Village Trattoria or Zappia's in Summit instead!!
