I had them come to look at my chimney about possible condensation. He told me we need a new liner which is fine. The weird thing is that within the past 10 days of them coming to my house I have nothing but heating issues and to top it off, the carbon dioxide levels in the house went through the roof. I can't prove it, but as soon as they come I have had my heating system shut down. And CO2 levels at near death levels. I called my heating guy and he found the air pipe for the heating unit blocked. The amount of derbies that was removed was unbelievable. My heating person told me it was a good thing I moved my family out of the house until we found the problem because we could have all died!!!

When they came to house one guy was on the roof and the other person was in my house selling me a new liner and a new state of other art cage. I can't prove it but I believe that the one on my rood poured the debries down to cause all of these issues. It is just to coincidence I had nothing but problems since they came.

They are really sweet con artists and scammers. Politely told me when I scheduled the cleaning over the phone that a basis cleaning was $44.95. Now that they are here in my home it is no longer a basis cleaning it is now an obstruction cleaning and that is $275.00 – I am also told I need a new chimney liner and my chimney to be rebuilt all to be done for the discount price of $3000. (I heard about the chimney liner scam before so I knew that one was coming) It continues to total up now my chimney is falling apart and needs to be rebuilt because the bricks are loose and they can do that plus the masonry for another $1500- Total bill now to do everything correctly according to them $4500
We have went now from a cleaning at $44.95 and replacement of chimney cap $65.00 to the lining, rebuilding and obstruction removal for a total cost of what $4500.00
This would make sense to me if I didn’t make sure my chimney and boiler was cleaned every year for the past 6 years however this year there is major blockage. A home inspector inspected my home in March 2011 and made no indications in his report about my chimney completely ready to fall in with the bricks hanging off. The construction company that replaced my shingles and roofing repairs for the storm of March 2010 also made no note of how bad the chimney was according to Chimney King. They also informed me that a home inspector does not have the expertise to make a judgment on a Chimney. This may be true but I am still no fool and something about this just does not smell right with me therefore I am cancelling this job now and sending them on their way.
I contacted my boiler people for referral and was told to try Smokey Chimney in Massapequa, I will check them now. The Better Business Bureau BBB has a decent rating for them. I should have done my homework and made that my first call.
