I visited this bar for the first and only time back in October of
2011. Despite the years that have passed since my experience there,
the night stands out quite vividly in my memories. I arrived at the
club with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday. We got a table
and ordered bottle service. We hit the dance floor before we started drinking.
After thirty minutes we were approached by a bouncer on the premise that
one of the guys in the group was sleeveless, which supposedly went against
the dress code. I later checked the website and found no mention of a dress code.
We were rather surprised as he'd come in dressed that way and the management
hadn't said anything at the door.
Instead, it was clear that the real problem was that two of my male
friends were dancing together. Nothing too racy; in fact, they were
doing a lot less than the women dancing nearby. Certainly, there was
no objection to the fact that most of the women in the bar that night
were showing considerably more skin. When we pointed that out we were
told that he'd have to leave. The management actually grabbed our
friend and held him in some kind of arm lock.
By this point there was something of a crowd forming and the night
took on yet another disturbing note. Someone shoved me with enough
force that I nearly fell down; I shoved back with considerably less
force assuming that it was one of the onlookers trying get closer. At
this point I turned and saw a man, whom it later became evident was a
bouncer, with his arm raised ready to hit me.
If one of my male friends hadn't stepped in to stop him, I probably
would have spent the night in the hospital. By this point we were
incredibly freaked out and when our friend was kicked out we all left.
We didn't want to be there. The whole night was so surreal. This isn't
the kind of thing we expect to experience in NYC.

WARNING: AVOID AT ALL COSTS (Read Below)
My husband and I came here on Saturday night when I was looking for a venue to celebrate his birthday. We got inside and made our way to a table near the bar. There was a busy crowd further inside the place and fairly enough amount of staff who kept passing back and forth. Moments later, I had to check if we were invisible because 10 mins had passed and nobody seemed to notice us. Somebody finally came after I approached one of the staff that we've been waiting in our table for quite awhile and we need water and the menu. Incredibly inattentive staff, tsk tsk.
We ordered Grilled Octopus, Chicken Satay, Ammos Roll and Volcano Roll. 15 mins after, Grilled Octopus was served, then waited another 10 mins for the Chicken Satay to arrive which tasted so awful. Our drinks kept both of us busy until we noticed that 40 mins after, our sushi weren't there yet. I followed up with the waitress who said it's gonna be there in 10 mins. After 10 mins, she came to our table and told us if we would like to order something else because they couldn't make Ammos Roll at the moment. WOW, why didn't anybody tell us from the start? And lo and behold, the Volcano Roll was not even there too. You said 10 mins, remember???
At this moment, I could see the waiters and waitresses just chatting and socializing in the bar and in other corners, like they were having their own party. Even the manager was just chatting and laughing with them instead of checking with the customers if everything is alright (like what managers usually do to us in good restaurants). ONLY a weak manager will allow a place to run like this. If your employees respect you, they will make sure that they're always on top of everything. In short, he doesn't know how to control and direct his staff.
10 mins later, the waitress came back with the Volcano Roll and apologized for the delay. She explained that there was a party event that they were taking care of. It's an invalid excuse for me. They should be prepared if they know they are gonna have an event. Not only are they inattentive but they're also incompetent.
Usually, my husband and I are very generous with tips but this time we didn't give any. I also wrote a note in the receipt saying "Pls improve your service... it's very poor."
We noticed a couple sitting close to us didnt get any service yet. They were sitting there for like 15 mins or so. We told our waitress about it as we were leaving.
When we took our coats and the lady heard our tale, she felt bad and offered us drinks which we gracefully declined. No drink can ever suffice the bad (worst!) experience we had in the place.
So we ended up having my husband's birthday celebration at Don Coqui Astoria. I chose the place even if it was way more expensive than Central Lounge. Their service was excellent and the whole family was satisfied.

I have never been more appalled by the service and treatment of any business as I have by Central Lounge in Queens. It was disgusting to say the least, my friends and I were disrespected by the door man before we even got into the place. The tone, attitude and treatment will make you regret ever driving there in the first place. Your business and money that you spend here will not be appreciated, save yourself the trouble and don’t let them ruin your night, go to the hundreds of other great, admirable and good quality service lounges in Queens. Avoid this place at all costs.
