Reviews to Castaways Yacht Club
My wife and I have been members of Castaways YC for over 30 years. Over these years we have endured "transmission problems", fuel problems and other normal boat headaches. About 10 years ago, after our gas engines had almost 3,000 hours, we re-powered our 36 Carver Aft cabin. A real challenge for Bill and the Castaways crew. Small quarters, new motors, mounts and electronics. All done perfectly. The atmosphere at the club is great. Family oriented, clean, and friendly people. I have served as an officer for many years and enjoy every minute. Children are always a joy at our club and there are many opportunities for them. Pool, games, climbing equipment and more. The staff is top notch.

In 1968,after our second son was born our family joined castaways yacht club with a 29 ft powerboat. For the next 14 years and two more boat upgrades we enjoyed the social and expert marine services offered by the club. The staff and personnel of the marina assisted us in all facets of boating including advising us on the new purchases!
We sold our boat in 1982 hoping to return as soon as possible. This way of life was embedded in our family happiness.
October 2014,we went to BILLY and told him we wanted back in,and in the next few months, his advise and expertise guided us to the purchase of our 45carver.
Just like old times, the fellow yachtsmen and staff of castaways remind me of the great life a truly great yacht club offers.
We hope to enjoy for many more years.

My wife and I moved our boat (a 45') to Castaways, conveniently located at the beginning of LI Sound, about 8 years ago (from a NJ marina) because we wanted to be closer to the Sound, as we do all of our boating there, and the marina is only about 45 minutes from our home in northern NJ. We thought we'd give it a try to see how it worked out. Eight years and two boats later (a 51' and 60'), we are still here and love it!
Castaways is the well run , the right size; not too big where you are just one of hundreds of boats but big enough to feel like you are part of a boating neighborhood. The location is perfect; very protected marina and close enough to the Sound as well as the East River so you can head in multiple directions for a day trip or an extended trip. The experienced staff at the marina is great. The service department is exceptional as are the amenities (pool, showers, and restaurant…breakfast, lunch, dinner…great food and host). Winter storage is great. There are social events throughout the season that enhance the community feel of this marina. In addition, you are able to have private events catered by the restaurant. The marina is pet friendly; our dog loves the view from our stern.

I have been a member of Castaways for almost 20 years. My first boat was a 27 footer and last year moved up for the 4th time to a 60. There is no one that I know who is more knowledgable about boats and boating then the owner Bill Michaelis. Bill and his team provide me with incomparable service and advice and help to keep my boat in top condition. I am not a mechanical person and Bill has solved dozens of difficult problems for me. The Sunseeker brokerage even helped me to sell my old boat and purchase my current one.
The club is situated on Davenport Neck in New Rochelle. This is an absolutely safe and well protected harbor. We have experienced numerous storms and even a couple of hurricanes with no damage while our surrounding harbors have gotten hit very hard. It's an easy and short trip out to the LI Sound and the best cruising grounds around.
If you choose to stay ashore, our facilities are always clean and there is a nice pool and a good restaurant. We have traveled extensively on our boat and haven't found too many marinas nicer than Castaways!
