We were extremely disappointment with the food served at this restaurant New Year’s eve dinner yesterday. For one, we were at the restaurant relatively early, and already we were told that there is no more Filet Mignon, which was what attracted some of our group members. One of the reasons some of the members in our group agreed on going to this restaurant was the Filet Mignon was part of the menu, and running out of it so early shows complete mismanagement of that kitchen inventory planning for such an evening ( or was it to increase your profitability, by not having enough). How can they run of such a popular item so early?
We were at this restaurant before, the food quality was acceptable, and this was one of the reasons we chose to come back. However Yesterday, New Year's eve was the worst I ever seen as far as food quality is concerned, and the way it was served. I had the stuffed mushrooms, even thought it was eatable, the filling was totally dry. In the Greek salad, I had to look for the feta cheese with a magnifier. The Veal sauce was disgusting, one of our members had to return it in order to change it with another dish. Two of our members had to return their food because it was cold. Everyone in our group was not satisfied about one dish or another.
As for your desert, when we were at that place previously the portions were decent, but yesterday the portions were 50% smaller than a regular evening (Why??). Again we were advised that here is no more apple pie, and one of our members did not mind to take the display piece out of the show tray. I asked for tea, and normally I am being asked, or shown a variety of teas to choose from. Yesterday the tea come with the bag already in it, I really did not like the tea (I believe it was green tea), but I was so fed up already with the way things were going, I just let it go.
In short it was a total fiasco, and it showed that the evening was planned for maximum profitability, with complete disconcert to quality, and customer’s satisfaction. We paid double than a normal evening dinner, on the common excuse that this is new year’s eve, and we understand that most places are using that occasion to “Make money”, but in most places we have been before, we got something for our money, good food, complementary bottle of wine, good entertainment with a bit more extra, etc... In Castaglia 997 restaurant, it was the opposite, we paid double, and got much less than a regular evening.
None of the people in our group will ever come back to this restaurant, and will make sure that it will not be recommended to any of our friends.

Randomly closed for over a week for summer vacation. So if you have a bit of a drive to get there, call ahead to make sure they are open .

Loved everything about our dining experience. From the friendly greeting when we arrived to the prompt and professional service followed by the best Lamb Chops EVER, Pasta with Tuscan sauce is to die for, and Grandma's Veal Laura was spectacular, no wonder it's named after the owner.

I recently convinced myself once again that Castalia delivers.. An authentic Italian trattoria always striving for great value to the customer. Whether it be small twists in service, food and ambiance - it is working so well.
We have been a fan of Castalia for several reasons, and they just seem to keep them coming. We were simply into the wine and dine experience there. Always have liked the ambiance and decor which have been updated tastefully in the last couple of years. Really like the great choice of salads and seafood appetizers. The Florida rock shrimp "with kick" better remain a restaurant secret - it is amazingly tasty and reason enough to stop by all in itself.
Plus, a solid wine list with good names at affordable prices by the glass and bottle. A well-rounded restaurant to entertain or just enjoy a night out.
What initially drew us to Castalia was their authentic menu that truly gives you every option - important when you are making a crowd happy. Promise that the pickier gourmet will be pleased as well. It is not a problem at Castalia. Menu and entertainment schedule can be found on their website.
You can enjoy vietello and pollo (veal or chicken) made to order as your favorite Italian dish served as marsala, franchese, parmigiana, piccata - you name it. Every variation is made from scratch and delicious. Presentation is simple with style and portion size is very generous. Same is true for their appetizer salads that are offered with your favorite topping. Try the seared scallops or shrimp - along with rustic bread. Once again, the rock shrimp has us coming back for more every time. It rocks.
Great news is, now Castalia's bar area has been opened up for the more casual encounter at Castalia. They are now offering some delicious popular bar foods. This is ideal for a happy hour gathering or light snack paired with a cocktail. I was impressed after my most recent visit with friends. I personally find that it just got a touch fancier through an added modern twist. An atmosphere with just the right amount of lighting, decor and staff friendliness has been adapted into the expanded bar area. I love to kick back there any chance I get with my friends.
Highly recommend Castalia.
