Good selection and decent location for me - but I had to walk out empty handed after asking about the prices of some bottles. Just - Too - Much for bottles that can be found at other stores for less. Maybe a 15% off lifetime coupon would have them as my favorite liquor store, but I think I would still be paying more for some items than at other stores.

I've just moved into the west village and as an avid wine drinker was looking for a local shop. My neighbor suggested casa oliveira and I have been consistently impressed after several visits. The retro-1950ish neon sign belies the surprisingly good wine selection , particularly of european and spanish reds. While they may not have the most extensive collection, this is the best shop in the area because of the location and hours (seven days a week). I can easily walk there (~5 minutes) and it is also a block from the christopher st 1. Good luck finding another wine shop open at 11 pm on friday/saturday night; casa oliveira is the only bet. They also have a nice liquor selection, particularly of whiskey/scotches.
