Carmen's Honda & Acura Specialists

I have been going to Carmen's for years, servicing both my wife's Odyssey and my Accord. The man is knowledgeable, honest, and last of a dying breed of mechanics who know their stuff. His son Michael is following his dad's footsteps. Several times while my cars were under warranty they found issues during regular check up (tranny fluid leaks, noises etc.) and pointed the issues to me so I can ask the dealer to fix under warranty. Very few honest people these days, and this car repair shop is certainly one of them. I dealt with many, many dealership and private mechanics, and often you are either dealing with incompetent or dishonest individuals. Carmen's on the other hand is that rare combination of competenece and honesty. I don't want to praise them too much so their heads do not get big, but if our own a Honda or Acura and live in New Jersey - this is the place to go.

Had service done on multiple occasions and various parts. The rear brakes were worked upon where the rear rotors were replaced. The rotors were charged at over MSRP and the pads were installed upside down. The main complaint which was the noise was never worked upon because nothing was lubricated! The shims were not installed properly and the system not cleaned.

Also had the timing belt done and it took a week. The explanation was bolt which a mechanics shop could not attend to. Best part was the car was worse after that which was due to a misalignment of the belt.

Cost was the same as the dealership at $95 per hour. Not recommended at all!

They were honest. I went there b/c the Accord wouldn't start. Thought it was possibly the battery but maybe a starter or alternator. Turned out it was just a loose battery terminal. I will be back the next time the car needs service - scheduled or unscheduled like today. Bonus: no charge. My embarrassment at not checking the terminal was enough....
