Ambiance was so bad where we were first seated, right next to a loud large group, that we had to request a table change in order to continue our meal. The food itself was average at best. The miso eggplant was an interesting take and was tasty. The three cups chicken was pretty bad though. The presentation and plating was very nice, but the chicken itself was way too salty and was far from authentic. If I didn't have a discounted voucher, the meal would've been overpriced for the quality.

The food was superb and our waiter excellent. Beyond that, the experience was awful. It was a beautiful evening in NYC and we asked upon entering if the front windows would be opened so we could enjoy the outside as we had seen diners at this restaurant do before. Our host said no and that was ok because we got a decent table. Many tables were still dirty, including ours for which we had to wait. The host was indifferent and slow. After our meal, I went to use the restroom which was broken and I was shown the one downstairs. En route, I discovered their outdoor patio which looked lovely. Upon asking our host why he hadn't informed us this was available, I got nothing but bad attitude. Apparently it was his thought I was supposed to ask about something I didn't know existed. A good host, upon asking our seating preference (and remember, I asked about those big open windows) would'e asked if we wanted to sit outside. Further, he was simply incompetent to deal with a coupon I presented. The host was rude, indifferent, and difficult. He ruined a great meal; and it's a shame because the food is indeed good. He had a genuine contempt and disregard for my point of view and I clearly will never be back. If you believe a good meal also includes a good attitude for service and caring for customers...do not go to Carma.

A sleeper of a restaurant. Quiet, authentic cuisine, served amidst the hubbub of the W.Village. Make sure to check out the Soup Dumplings.

I found a deal at LivingSocial and tried this restaurant, it turned out very nice. Great food, tasty and perfect size, since most of dishes are tapas size, we were able to try more food, and they were all good. The place was packed, we were so glad to find this one and enjoyed their food, drink and service. Great place.
