Every time I took my mom to the emergency room we were assisted right away. Of course just like any other emergency room, there is a bit of a wait but not as long as other large hospitals. The staff: nurses, doctors, lunch people, and custodians are all super friendly. My mothers doctors were a gem (Dr. Hammad Choudhry, Dr. Saif, Dr.. Zubair) they came everyday to check on her and took time to explain everything ! I rarely came across a negative nurse or nurse assistant. Cant say food is great nor the parking. Parking was tough. I was staying overnight with my mom so I had to pay a big sum. Wish they could waive the parking for visitors that stay overnight with patients. Aside from this, they updated their tvs and now they have cool touch screen tv where u can surf the web and watch some good cable channels. Also once in a while, a lady comes with complementy snacks for everyone. These are some positive things. Of course there can always be room for improvement, but, overall i was happy with my experience there.

Told me I was all set to come in and that they had verified my insurance benefits.
Presented my insurance card at the front desk and they took me in for an MRI. Facilities at Christ Hospital were sub-par, and had to use a trailer MRI system...
Long story short, billed me as out of network, never ONCE telling me that my insurance was not accepted in the entire building. Charged $8000 for the MRI! I needed another MRI later on, went to Lennox Hill and paid in full. $200. charging 40x more and calling yourself Christ hospital?
NEVER GO HERE.

Where do I begin. My mother was taken to Bayonne Medical Center this past Sunday. I suspected she was in heart failure ( Oxygen 79 - swollen ankles). We were taken into the ER. The doctor came in to check on her rather quickly ( good sign). He ran some tests and a few hours later, yes, she was in Heart Failure. My mother is 88 years old and she is afraid of hospitals so when the doctor informed her she would have to stay she said, " I'm not staying" he in turn said, " Ok I'll get the paperwork and you can go home". He was rude and insensitive to the situation. The woman next to my mother was screaming is pain, she had colon cancer and was bleeding quite a lot. There was blood all over the floor by her bed. The doctor NEVER once went in to see her; he sent the nurses. This man should change professions. I went to visit her the following day and the daytime nurses were excellent. The woman next to my mother had her daughter stay with her that night. When I went to see her the following day the daughter asked to speak with me. The night shift nurses totally ignored her plea for a blanket and water. Also, she was soaked in urine and stayed that way all night. Thanks to this woman,. who I do not know, I now know what goes on in the wee hours at BMC. I went to pick her up later that day and she was sitting in urine soaked pants. They actually put these on her. NEVER EVER AGAIN. I WILL GO TO THE LOCAL PAPERS TO RELAY THIS HORRIBLE EXPERIENVCE>

A few months ago, I had a really bad panic attack, and wen to the ER at the Bayonne Medical Center. I have never been to the ER before, and was new to Bayonne. I should've read the reviews first.
I was dealing with a series of hardships, many financial challenges, and life hardships, including moving into a building that was completely infested with bed bugs (because the landlords lied to my face and told me the building has no history of bed bugs). I had just moved in and now I needed to move out asap, but I had to exterminate the apt myself twice first, and I had very little time to do this, plus I was terrified of getting bitten by bed bugs.
I came to the ER, because I wanted some anxiety medicine, so I could focus on the task at hand, and not feel so overwhelmed. Instead I sat in a room by myself for over 3 hrs. No one spoke to me. No one helped me. No one gave me advice or medicine, or listened to my grievance. I came out about 4 times, to ask if a doctor was coming. I would be told that a doctor is coming soon, and then everyone proceeded to continue to ignore me further. In the end, no one helped me at all in any way. It was a complete waste of time. All they did was a routine blood test. Finally, I told them that I'm not being helped, that I came to the wrong place, and that I wanted to leave. Only after I said that, they sent in a mental health professional. I told her my situation, and that I made a mistake to come to the ER. That I should've probably gone to a psychologist to get some anxiety medicine. She then simply referred me out to a psychologist. This was at most a 5 minute conversation. I'm extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with the service I got at the Bayonne Medical Center. I was not helped in the least. My time was wasted. I wonder if they deliberately left me there for as long as possible, just so they could bill me more. And for providing this outrageously low quality service, which borders on neglect, I'm being billed almost $12,100. Plus there will be a separate bill from the ER physician (for the 5 minute conversation, but I'm sure I'll be billed in the $1000s), but the sum of which I have not yet been informed of. This is appallingly unjust. It feels like gouging.
Yesterday I went to speak with the charity care department at the Bayonne Medical Center. I have extremely low income and no insurance, and I know for sure I qualify for charity care to pay for the above bill. I called them several times to find out the exact documents they wanted me to bring to apply for charity care. When I came there, it turned out I needed to bring more documents. Why couldn't they tell me that when I called them? It takes me 1 hr to get to the hospital, and now I have to go back and bring more documents, wasting 2 hrs each day doing that. How many more times do I have to do this? The charity care office staff was kind of passive aggressive, actually. I got the feeling that they were antagonizing me, and trying to provoke me or humiliate me, wanting to make it as difficult for me as possible to get the financial aid which I qualify for. They made me get a profit and loss statement, which cost me almost $600 to produce. I need that money to survive, but fine, I had my CPA produce this document, burying me further into debt. However, they couldn't understand this statement (I had to explain it to them!), and then they pretty much overlooked it and wanted to see the original statements which the profit and loss statement was based on. So why did I need to waste $600 if I could've just showed them the original statements? Self righteous incompetence reigns in this institution.
Just from dealing with the charity care office yesterday, made me have insomnia last night and a panic attack today. They have not been very charitable. This institution has done me more harm then good. Instead of helping me with my anxiety, they've made it worse, because now I'm worried sick about these bills, and have severe anxiety because of how horribly I was treated there. Will never go back there again, even if on death bed.

Horrible hospital that engages in flagrant price gouging and sub-standard care practices. I went to the ER with a finger laceration and was basically ignored for thirty minutes while on-and-off nauseous and in shock. It took two complaints and a request to be moved to another hospital -- which was flatly rejected -- before they even washed the wound, and another 30 minutes before I was given anything for pain (and it didn't help). Then the hospital had the gall to charge my insurance almost $30,000!! Cleaning and stitching a cut less than two inches in length costs almost as much as a new car at BMC! I am currently fighting to get the hospital to explain themselves and thusfar have been effectively ignored in my requests. Do *NOT* go there, even if you life is in danger -- you're better off at literally any other hospital!!
