Campagna Quattro Gatti

I was sitting in another restaurant almost ready to order but, after looking at the limited fare and the cheap prices on the menu I had a bad feeling. I had spotted this hidden gem across the street from the window and decided to try my luck there which was the best decision of the night. We walked in and were seated right away with no reservation. The menu had a nice array of selections in all the typical Italian categories with prices that were not inflated like every other Manhattan restaurant. The food was excellent and perfectly cooked from the appetizers to the main courses. The staff was very attentive but not overbearing. The owner had approached us and every other table to ask us how our experience was. The place had a real homely old school Italian feeling with simple but elegant decor. The waiter recommended the grandmother pie for dessert so we ordered 1 to share but after the first bite we ordered another. The coffee was perfect and fresh. I complimented the owner on our experience and he quickly responded but buying us an after dinner drink. This place will be seeing us anytime we venture to Manhattan.

Great staff, nice space. Strong wine selection and a menu with all you would expect from an Italian restaurant. The food was good but not outstanding.

Pretty authentic Italian food. Not absolute best stateside, but certainly in the top few. Amazing atmosphere and decor. Coffee is top notch.
