C2 is one of the greatest learning experiences I’ve had during high school. I started going when I was a freshman and I’ve grown so much as a student and person. I’ve picked up great studying habits, been exposed to every possible SAT question type in the history of practice SAT, been drilled on a never ending vocab packet(a strangely pleasant experience), and built up my confidence that had been deteriorating to the nth degree. The tutors there were all so patient and understanding; even though I got the same question types wrong over and over again, they never lost their patience. As a shy person,I also found it very easy to open up and tell the tutors my dreams and ask for advice. I personally believe that they are the best counselors when it comes to school related issues. Not only are they easy to talk to, they are also--obviously--very smart and great role models. However, what made my experience at C2 so great was seeing my level of confidence shoot up to the highest layer of the atmosphere. Most high schoolers suffer from lack of confidence and this leads to loss of motivation, feelings of helplessness/hopelessness and a “I’m going to fail anyway” mindset. This state of mind is dangerous because the person ultimately stops trying. I believe that having confidence in myself again is the greatest--and most unexpected--gift I’ve received from C2. My tutors always said “You can do it” and after hearing it so many times, I started to think, “oh yeah, I can definitely do this”. I now have the drive to think beyond getting a 100 on my AP Latin test; I strive to end the year with a strong A and a 5 on the AP exam. Learning hundreds of--maybe a thousand--vocab words, mastering math practice sets, and going over every possible nitty gritty grammar mistake will help me earn an amazing SAT score. But in 60 years, I will not remember every morsel of knowledge I’ve gained because of this program; I will remember the day I started having faith in myself because one great thing led to the next.
