I really debated on how many stars to give for this review. I am torn between the fact that they have good beer and the overly tourist atmosphere of this brewery. I have had their beer before since it is sold pretty much everywhere and this was the second time I went to the brewery. The first time we went we got there just before closing and were told it was too late to order beer. This time we got there 40 minutes after they opened and the place was still totally packed. You have to wait in line to purchase beer tokens and then wait in a separate line to use your tokens to purchase beer. The line for both is always very long and there is never anywhere to sit. Their beers are delicious which is why I gave them 4 stars but I would never come back to the brewery, it isn't worth the hassle at all and you will be surrounded by people taking pictures etc.

I have driven to Brooklyn from central Connecticut many times just to visit Brooklyn Brewery. For someone who enjoys good beer I'd have to say that they have a pretty good selection. And I really do like the wooden tokens. I kept one as a souvenir from my first visit several years ago. Hands down one of, if not the best, breweries in the northeast area.

The concept of this place can make your head spin !!! First the hours, or should I say the lack of hours just suck closed Monday - Thursday open Friday - Sunday who has hours like that ?? Second, wait in line to get in, this place feels more like a warehouse, my bad it used to be !!! Has a cold rustic feeling like being in a garage !!! Third wait in line to trade in your $$ for dume wooden tokens. 10 tokens = $40.00 thats just ridiculous !!! Then go wait in another line to trade in tokens for a beer. 1 token gets you a half a beer, its considered a sample and whats even worse its draft beer !!! This token system is horrible and makes you wait in line over and over again it makes no sense !!!!
Old Picnic benches !!! Thats a touch of class for a brewery, this place has a cold rustic feeling, its not inviting, its like going to your buddies house and hanging out in the garage shooting the s**t and drinking beer, but then again atleast there you don't have to stand in line and pay with wooden nickels.
After all that waiting how is the beer ?? Mediocre at best !!!
**** To the Donkey's that run this place get rid of that lousy token system as well as those horrible picnic tables have some class !! Your a brewery,,,, when you walk into the Boston Beer Company you don't find picnic tables they have class, you don't, thats how much you think of your customers to offer a picnic table to sit on !!!! Sad.......

Went here for a date and this place really did not disappoint at all. We went for a Sunday free tour, which they have every half hour from 1-4. Each tour was about half an hour and presented those with a little basic knowledge about beer the opportunity to win a free token (1 token = 1 beer). The tour guide was informative and entertaining in giving us the basic understanding for how beer is made as well as how Brooklyn Brewery came to be. The ambiance here is really nice and the crowd there is very easy going. I could see myself coming back again just to enjoy the atmosphere while having a beer.

I have a wonderful story to share about Brooklyn brewery. Myself, my wife and friends met their daughter and boyfriend there in late August/ early September. We brought our 13 year old who is on the autistic spectrum. It was a little loud and busy in there, not in a bad way....typical for the environment on a Saturday afternoon. It was fun, but not great for a semi-autistic 13 year old. He was doing his best to deal with it. The "bouncer" (for lack of a more appropriate description) was wonderful. He recognized my sons insecurity and offered to give him some snacks and water which we gladly accepted. He couldn't have been more considerate and concerned. In addition the tour was delicious and informative. They clearly are good people under good management. Please go and support them!
