This is one of my favorite breakfast spots in Carroll Gardens. Their bread and bagels are great. For someone looking for a traditional New York-style bagel, you will be disappointed, but if you have an open mind, you will fall in love. The bagel is big, flatter than usual, and really tasty. Everything is baked in the basement. It's a small space, but you can usually find a seat. My wife and I can usually split a breakfast sandwich because they are so big. I can also attest that their lemon drop cookies are very good. Note that it is cash only.

What I love most about Brooklyn Bread is that it's a go-to bakery for almost anything I'd need. It's a great spot to pick up a sandwich for lunch or dinner (they're hearty sandwiches too, and reasonably priced), bakery-quality cookies if you're craving something sweet, or a cake or pie if you're entertaining guests. I wish they had kept their Park Slope location, but worth the walk over to Carroll Gardens for one of their delicious bagels.

Ok so here is the deal. Everything here tastes amazing. The bread used for sandwiches? Out of Control. The Bagels? throw an egg and some cheese on one and I am a happy girl. The staff? They try. They aren't rude per se, but the turnover is so high that they aren't in a position most times to make much in the way of pleasantries. Grab a paper menu, decide what you would like then get in line. Order and then move away from the counter, the cashier isn't the one making the food so you mess with the flow by setting up shop at the counter after you order. The prices are great and the Sandwich selection can keep you in new options for months.
