- Terrible

Being pretty new to the area, I ventured over to Broadway Barber Shop, in search of a clean-cut, old-fashioned haircut. When I arrived, there were 4 others waiting, which I took as a good sign. The barber, Michael, has been cutting hair for 50 years, I believe 30 years in this location. To my surprise, the barber started the haircut by putting a wad of gel in my hair, and parting it in a 1950's Mad Men style. Then, moving slow and clumsily, he cut into the mess of sticky hair. The haircut was finished with a straight razor neck trim with warm lather, which was a nice touch, despite the fact that the razor had not been disinfected after the previous customer. To be honest, when it was all done, it didn't look that bad, especially for a $8 haircut. But when I got home and showered all of the gel and Aquanet out of my hair, the bleak reality set in. This was without a doubt the worst haircut I had ever received. In my entire life. There were patches of hair sticking out all over the place, almost as if there was no pattern, just a series of unrelated snips. Even the simplest thing like the hairline on my neck was trimmed unevenly. Look, I understand he has been cutting hair for ages, and I don't want to take that away from him. The fact of the matter is that old age has severely compromised his ability to cut hair. The people that pile into his barber shop nowadays are there solely for the low price. Certainly not for his skill.
